No, the 2.65 topshaft is like 16t, the 1.95 is 20t and the stock 2.25 is 18t
It’s the other way around:
2.25 Standard: 20t
1.95. 18t
No, Reggie has it right. The 2.65 trans uses the top shaft with less teeth. The 1.96 top shaft has more teeth.
That is why the 2.65 grenades idler gears with todays modern electronics (less teeth engaged on idler= higher tooth load). A Steel gt idler helps, but then you blow teeth off diff gears if not swapped every race day. This is what i found racing 2wd mod truck fwiw.
I believe that as a pair of gears rotate, their teeth fall into and out of engagement one tooth at a time.
So, adding teeth to a gear doesn't necessarily result in a stronger gear.
Gears break because increased loads have created bending stresses in excess of what the material and tooth design can resist.
Regarding overall endurance (resistance to wear), increasing tooth count can increase a gear's life since it will make fewer revolutions (fewer engagement cycles of each tooth) for each rotation of the tire.
I know people have said on here it can be done, namely pop the topshaft gear of so you can use the b4 slipper. But havent actually see anybody do it? Unless of course i've missed a post somewhere!
I'm going to do it on my 10T only way i can think of...

Group buy sounds like a good idea.
I wonder if they are re-manufacturing them, or if it is old stock.
I would be in too.......
will the rpm stealth conversion for the rc10t work for the rc10 buggy. if so what else will i need to buy to make it work?

stealth trans = 2.25
rpm trans = 2.65
rc10b4 trans = 2.60
thus running the rpm trans with modern motors and such you can gear the car pretty much just like you would gear a b4. since there are more people running b4's at the tracks than vintage...
Hey folks this trans came with a chassis that I picked up from eBay. Does anyone have any info on this trans If It's a stealth or not.

it looks like a three gear trans. someone can correct me if i'm wrong, but i think that the ratio of the mip trans was in the 2.30 range, as compared to the stock 2.25. i had a stealth in the early 90's with 64 pitch gears, i believe they were made...
I'm attempting to use the RPM 2.65 hydra shaft (#8058) in the RPM trans case to use the B4 slipper. I picked up one of those shafts and the rear slipper plate sits out quite a bit further on the shaft compared to a B4 shaft. Am I looking at...
HI!... In one of my recently obtained part lots I got NIP RPM trans cases. So I figured I'd build it with all the parts I got. So I installed a freshly rebuilt diff and Robinson Racing steel idler gear. Now I know this trans is designed for a 2.65...
