** Hopelessly Incomplete Project of the Month - May 2025 **

Post by Frankentruck »

One more month of hopeless incomplete projects, then we will do the beaters and bashers again next month.

===========================================
We always like seeing runners and excellent shelfers, but how about the projects that never seem to come to completion? This contest is for the projects that are stuck. Missing parts, broken parts, impossible to find parts, or lack of motivation to put the parts together. What does winning mean? Congratulations, you had a vision but you haven't built it yet! Maybe next year?

Rules: We always need rules, even if they aren't enforceable

You have 7 days to post up photos of your entry. No need to do a placeholder. Just proudly put in your entry and let the intimidation begin.

Up to 10 entries are allowed

Up to 3 photos of an entry.

Photos are uploaded to the site, not remotely hosted

No run videos because entries need to be incomplete.
Runners are disqualified and the overachiever will be booed!

Open to all brands and franken-style builds

"Winning" one month does not disallow a different entry from the same member in another month.

Past monthly "winner" entry not eligible for future monthly entry.

2 votes per member will be allowed. Are votes for an entry actually an insult? 🤔

Voting poll will be added on 8th of the month, or sooner if there are 10 entries before then.

Please only make contest entry posts before the poll is up. After poll has begun, other posts can be made.

Thanks for reading all this. Good luck?

This 3DSets Baja Beetle has sat on my toolbox offending me since October of 2024. Life has become too busy with my own kids, my students, and my side hustle to even proceed any further. I am 95% of the way finished.

I started my quest for a nice TRX1 with this nice 'no gearbox' roller. It has a never been run feel to it. I've been in search of a gearbox and motor plate to complete it. In the process I collected a TRX3 gearbox, internals that work with it, slipper parts, a well cared for TRX1 runner (that was going to be a parts donor), a less well cared for but restorable TRX3 (no longer going to be a parts donor), and used a TRX1 motor plate that's incompatible with the TRX3 gearbox.

The hopeless part is I can't decide if I need a TRX1 gearbox or a TRX3 motor plate to finish it. Both seem like they require a lot of patience to find

I sacrificed this incomplete Kyosho Optima Mid Custom Special to make the broken Lazer Alpha runner in the background drivable. I had to choose one car or the other and I'm not sure if I made the right choice but the upper deck on the Optima is so supercustom-veryspecial that it put me off saving the Optima. Too bad, but who knows, maybe the missing parts will come my way sooner or later.
