My rc10 projects
I joined this forum in 2012 just seeing where the progress was in rc. Specifically the rc10. I dove deep into modern rc cars, all team associated 1/10 mostly. Always run 2wd mod buggy and stadium truck. I’ve had a 2wd short course and still have a 4wheel but I love 2wd 1/10 scale.
This is my first post. I’m Mike. Haha
In the late 80s my parents bought me a new RC10 A stamp. I still have the original box but sadly not the car. My first rc car was a Falcon. In 1989ish I then got a new RC10 graphite 6 gear that I later bought a conversion kit to turn it into an oval car called a Badger.
Moving into 2022, I wanted a gold pan again and at that time the market was ridiculous.
I started by buying two cars together in the third pic along with a rere chassis, rere motor plate and the spare parts pictured. One is scratched up but the other is fairly nice although it had a hole in the side of the chassis.
This car will be my modern runner updated with a stealth trans and b4 slipper. I just bought one on eBay so hopefully it’s in decent shape.
I also cut down the sides of the chassis and nose and will also trim the motor plate when it comes. Still deciding what I want to do for the half hole. Haha
I’ve ordered several parts to make this a reliable runner and look forward to finishing this car to move onto the others.
The half painted body car came as is without a trans but honestly I don’t think the car was ever run outside. Absolutely perfect chassis. This will be my shelve car with a box art body eventually.
The world’s car is awesome. Very few scratches but the owner was meticulous and put the manual into plastic sleeves and into a 3 ring binder. It also came with a magnum sport tx.
I will simply clean this car up and get a Kinwald body for it. Funny how this car was just rereleased.

Welcome, and technically...Welcome back. Your 10 will make a solid runner and even a capable vintage racer for sure. Class seems to be gaining momentum in the past three years
Look like you have a great start!

Re: My rc10 projects
I also made the front bumper out of kydex today. I made another one that matches the side cuts on the nose plate but I think I like the rounded bumper better.
I need to clean up all of the balls studs and hinge pins before putting it all back together.
I’ll still need to order some more parts. It seems most vintage 2wd classes run a 17.5 so I’ll eventually get a hobby wing system. For now I’m going to put in a tekin rs and redline 17.5 that I’ve had for years. This will at least let me work out the kinks.
I’ll also need to get a servo.
I have the jconcepts steering bell cranks but i can’t tighten too tight or it will lock up the rack. I’m assuming I’ll just use blue lock tight and tighten the nuts until it’s free and assume the lock tight will set up and hold.
More pics to come as I get it together. This will be a runner so I only cleaned the white parts.
Still have to completely disassemble the stealth transmission that I bought on eBay. I’ll clean the cases and rebuild the diff. It’s actually really smooth but I want to make sure it has plenty of lube.

Re: My rc10 projects
I bet that hole was for mounting a charging port so the body didn't have to be removed and the battery unplugged to charge it. That for me has always been an irritation with my RC10, but I would never poke a hole in the metal chassis. Maybe mount a plug somewhere easy to get to or add it onto the body.
Nice looking projects!
