Ebay BIN or make best offer?

What is the deal with the best offer for Buy It Now auctions on ebay. I put in a best offer for something, and it was rejected immediately. There's no way the seller even saw my offer, it was like an auto response. Does that mean that someone put in an offer higher than mine already? I've never tried this before. Please splain me this.

There is no reserve. It was just a straight BIN auction.

Some sellers have a minimum offer bid and unless the offer is over this minimum it is automatically rejected. This was explained a month ago when someone was having the same issue with certain acutions and the seller who is a member here gave that explanation.

Another stupid ebay thing. Why don't they have it so that the seller has to accept or reject the offer? He's not even going to see my offer, and I'm not even low-balling the guy. Oh well. Not that I need any more junk anyway.

It is a helpful feature (that I have used) so a seller doesn't have to waste time on the "I'll give ya $2.25 for your highly collectible item, but I want you to include shipping!" responses. But apparently he (or she) thinks your offer is not worthy. Some people just set a higher bar than others.... some consolation may be that if the auto rejection threshold is too high the item may not sell.

Put it this way, there was recently an auction for the exact same item. I was the second highest bidder, and I feel I went all-out on it. Someone beat me in the last few seconds. There is no doubt that me and this other (insane) bidder pushed the bidding up past what it should have gone for. I think this guy must have seen that auction, and posted his BIN even higher. My offer was just under what my last bid was on the other auction. If I hadn't of bid so high on that other auction, I don't think this guy would be listing this one for so high. I know it's not going to sell for what his BIN, if it was, someone would have hit the button by this point. Fine by me, he's the one paying listing fees, and I'll just wait until he relists it for a lower price.

I just wait for the item to relist. There's nothing I really need on ebay so after I see something relisted a few times, I'll throw in a best offer. Have you guys seen the B3 that's been relisted like 5 times already? You'd think the guy would get the message that he's asking way to much.

Even though your offer was rejected, he will still see it, and it will be in the history after the auction ends, that means a second chance offer could be done by him afterwards. I like this system sometimes on computer hardwrae etc, means I can stick a few offers in to test the water instantly, just watch out though I won stuff with stupid offers straight out as well

It all worked out. He did see my offer and sent me a message. He lowered the BIN to just above my offer, two dollars above what my high bid was on the other auctions, and so I hit the button. One more thing I definitely don't need, but glad I got.

And, it just gets better. He gave me a partial refund too. He quoted me a few bucks off the BIN price, I hit it, paid for it, and he immediately refunded the difference. Very cool.



Now then, anybody know what all I need to get these on a 6010? I was going to get some CRP front axles and rear adapters off ebay. CPR's auction says that the rears need a longer nut or axle to get them to fit though. Anybody know what part(s) I need for the rear end? Or where I can find them? Will RC10T rear axles work, are they any longer?

Oh yes I am. It would be sweet to keep them in their awesome little boxes, but all they can do there is look pretty and collect dust. I'd rather put them on a truck where they will look pretty and, well, get dust on them. Yep, I'm even planning to *run* (yipes!) them. Ever so lightly of course. That 6010 I picked up a while back is getting a rebuild, and a heavy metal make over. It's going to be my vintage RC10 "runner". That is, nice Sunday afternoon strolls down the sidewalk, and the occassional jump off the sidewalk cracks. Don't worry, I promise no wheels will be hurt with this project.
