What pictures do you include/want to see of RC cars?

Post by Dr. Robotnik »

So basically, I am rubbish at pictures and usually just ham fist a few with my girlfriends digi camera when I have new model built.

However my housemate (a professional photographer) said he'd take some pics for me and I wondered what shots should be taken?

Under body shot?
Top shot?
3/4 front and back shots?
Body on body off?

I know nothing about photography and he knows nothing about RC, so can someone give me some ideas?

Cheers in advance

Ed

hello Ed,

I think it may depend on the car. For instance, on the sand scorcher, the rear is a very appealing shot while on a stock rc10, it may not be that special. I find that pictures of the bottom of the chassis is a must when selling.

From the pictures I see it you can't go wrong with 3/4 views, body on and off and top views. I'm still amazed how the time tunnel cars look.

Regards,
highwayracer

I dunno. Take LOTS! I usually shoot a top down shot, a side profile shot, a close up front half shot, a close up rear half shot and whatever else to show the detail of the car up close. Body on, body off, action shots, whatever! Just make sure they show detail, don't have any glare and aren't blurry and you'll be fine.

I got a little tutorial off my house mate, all good stuff...

Lowest ISO
No flash
Set White balance to Tungsten
As high a resolution as possible
Use a tripod
White/neutral background
Control light with lamps
etc...

The no flash is true.Every pic I take with a flash turns out terrible.Pays to take the time and put together a background and lighting.Seen some real nice results when guys take the time.

I've read that topic a few times but being a camera novice and not having any money I haven't been able to make my own.
