Yok. YR-4 cars vs. Yok. Offroad Cars Parts compatibility

So, as I am getting another YR-4 (this time an M2 US version) after many years and parts are hard to come by at times specific to the YR-4 chassis I had a few questions. I did race a YR-4 years ago in Germany with the Keil DTM cup / series but have not had any exposure to the offroad buggies. I am curious which buggy is the YR-4 based off, and are most drivetrain parts compatible between the two. Can I use any of the buggy replacement bulkheads? I imagine the wheelbase may be different.

someone with much more knowledge than I can give you a better rundown, but from what I can tell, the YR4 was made with 2 variations, the original and the M2? I think the original is very similar to the 870c/yz10 of the early 90's, so stuff like the bulkheads(and caps), motor mount, spur gear and drive system, steering parts, along with the differentials can all be interchanged. and of course, all of the ball links, shock ends/collars/etc, and some bearings. I'm not sure on the hub carriers.

the M2, i think was alot different, but may cross to the later yokomo offroad cars (mx4 or??) I get fuzzy past the yz10's.

Well there were a lot more variations of the YR-4, but the original is what stays closest to the buggy indeed. There even is a bugg version of the YR-4: called hotdog. It basically is a YR4 with with works 91 suspension arms and axles. Even the shocks and towers are YR4.
The mounting of the arms did not change so you could put on 870C, or works arms and axles on the M2 I guess.

I think you'll have to switch schocktowers when using the older nylon gearbox covers
