The stampede is one of the most durable rc's I've ever owned. I got the last kit my lhs had right as traxxas went all rtr. I think it was 2001.

Re: Yes I Do Have A Stampede
I had an XL1 Stampede that I picked up used for the kids to run ragged. They had fun with it but moved on and I let it go a couple months ago to help fund some brushless systems.
I do race an XL1 Rustler in mod truck at the local track and actually took 1st in a points series last summer. It's not the fastest truck, but it's consistent and rugged-- just like the Stampede.
There is something to be said for a runner that you can hand the tx to just about anyone and you don't have to sweat every move they make!
Oh- and here's an old pick of the Stampede (I put an XL5 body on it for the kids):

The preceding contained opinions, beliefs and thoughts that all may not agree with. No offense was intended at any point. Carry on.

Re: Yes I Do Have A Stampede
i got one for my kid when he was 7-8. the only thing he ever managed to break on it was the front bumper. i took out that crappy traxxas esc and stinger motor out in favor of an lrp esc and a 17 double. it runs pretty good.
Re: Yes I Do Have A Stampede
I had a first gen pede once, I hated it!! I traded for 10T2 parts and built the powder coated blue T2 I have that sits on a shelf.

Re: Yes I Do Have A Stampede
I had a couple of Stampedes & Rustlers throught the years. They are great trucks, if you can get your ego past the fact that they are not high-end purpouse-built racing machines. Unfortunately most people here just can't appreciate them (or anything Traxxas for that matter) for what they are.
Re: Yes I Do Have A Stampede
i love the way that looks. next week iam picking up both a stampede and a rustler

Re: Yes I Do Have A Stampede
I had 2 at one time, both gen 1s I think although I bought the second as a roller and did a street truck,
a new vxl shell before they released new model predone flames looked pretty good blue, alloy wheelie bar from US

it has now gone but the vinatge (lol) one is still there with 3CH JR radio and foor the time top dog cells and chargers etc and an unlimited esc

Re: Yes I Do Have A Stampede
Oh those, I bought them and the rims specifically, Stampedes have odd offsets etc, they were road tyres for my tarmac running

Along with blue rims, I sold it with stock they are still in storage

RPM CLAWZ in Blue
and indeed Proline Striker II Street tyres
