Thank you for posting...I've been trying to find a picture of that car. It looks like that's the correct picture because it had the controversial square spike tires on the rear.

I found a small picture of his mid motor ultima, but you really can't see any of the details.

Regards,
highwayracer

Man, Trinity has trashed just about every company in their ads. Wimpy mods were popular in 87 so they trashed them, Race Prep was popular in the early 90's so they cut them up and trashed them. Later LIPO's were "evil and dangerous" so trinity trashed them, now they sell them. Hmmm I never did care for "Uncle Ernie's" marketing tactics. At least he didn't publicly trash Losi after they realised he would ruin their company if they sold it to him.

I love the white Ultima with the blue/red/orange decals. I don't ever remember seeing those. I wonder if they were custom.

That Trinity ad about the puny little sissy motor prompted the release of the pretty, puny, sissy, little , wimpy motor which caused the end of that particular ad to come about. Got this story from my lhs guy and he showed me the ad. I've got the wimpy motor in my collection and for that matter the Trinity one also but I thought it was a cool story how this other company Yokomo(I think)? could shut up Trinity.

It was Gonzo. They had some pretty decent stuff and I'm sure they would have been more sucessful if weren't for the fire in their warehouse.

Thanks Roger, I could'nt remember that name and it is not displayed on the label, all I could find was Yokomo on the bell so that sounded good at the time.

I'm trying to remember if both their modifieds and stock motors use the yokomo. For some reason, I'm thinking that they used an air supply set up for the stock motors.

I have one of their modifieds but no label :(

Roger, can you share the mid-moter picture? Or is it the one that's shown in the link?

Looks like it used the optima mid rear suspension: arm and uprights.

I have those yellow wheels for the rear and know where to ge the corrrect rear tires also. But repro's aren't my thing.
Interesting to see the tomahawk body on the japanese car, and to hear Johnson used the optima pro body...

hello Erik,

The only picture I have is the one that's from the website (rear of the car). That's the car he used in the 89 off road nationals. The picture was published in the December 89 issue of RCCA.

Regards,
Roger
