The other end of the spectrum - Operation Sow's Ear
The other end of the spectrum - Operation Sow's Ear
I bought this uhhh, car for a very, very low price. I figured it would be good for parts at least. Well after I got it I started thinking about what I could do with it other than piece it out. all the major components are there and the tranny is smooth. I like a challenge just as much as I can appreciate a perfect, new build. So - I think I'm going to try and save this beast. I'm pretty much going to need a chassis, used or otherwise. The rest i think I can scrounge together or repair. So, without further ado hear is the future Silk Purse:

I think so! I possibly have a line on a chassis so it might happen sooner than I thought!

Re: The other end of the spectrum - Operation Sow's Ear
OK, I took a few minutes to disassemble the components from the nasty chassis they were on. Since this will be a runner I just cleaned them up a bit and installed them on a much nicer chassis I got from bearrickster (thanks!). Man these Losi's are easy to work on! Everything is unitized. I temporarily stuck on the Jconcepts wheels but I need to get some new locknuts. I'm quite happy with the way this car is going to turn out. Obviously I need to change the front shock springs still. Who knows which rear shock tower this is?

JRX2 rear tower. First "gen" was solid, second "gen" was drilled.RedScampi wrote:Who knows which rear shock tower this is?
Are you running oval (different front springs) or just grabbed a mismatched pair?

Re: The other end of the spectrum - Operation Sow's Ear
thats just the Jrx2 or T rear tower with a Pro se front tower. if you need the Junior towers let me know I have them or run it the way it is. thats one of the reasons I love Losi easy to work on and everything fits!!
Re: The other end of the spectrum - Operation Sow's Ear
Thanks for the ID guys, the JRX2 is one of the missing cars in my collection so i hadn't seen this shock tower before. Yeah, the springs were on the car when I got it, go figure huh? One side was clamped way down the barrel of the shock to compensate for the longer one on the other side. Thanks for the towers offer Rick, I'll keep it in mind but for now I'll leave it as is. Gotta try to focus my efforts on one car at a time but I think I'm RCADD!
Yeah, i think it was real cool of Losi to make all the parts interchangeable. It makes it so you can recycle stuff from basket case cars like I'm doing!

I might be overlooking some details, but in general there is a lot of interchangeability on all of the JR series of cars, basically everything before the XX.longboardnj wrote:very nice the chassis made i look like new i was thinking of finding a cheap losi car to do up ..was there a link or somewhere i could go to find info on what parts were interchangeable with what cars??i think it was real cool of Losi to make all the parts interchangeable
JR-X2, JR-XT, Junior 2, Junior T, JRX Pro, JRX Pro SE, and one name oddball, the LXT.
One exception comes to mind, the X2/XT 5 link rear suspension doesn't go on the Pro SE/LXT chassis.

I like those wheels on their, a little different is nice sometimes. as for lock nuts Mcmaster carr has themI temporarily stuck on the Jconcepts wheels
Re: The other end of the spectrum - Operation Sow's Ear
Ok thanks, I'll check out. Mcmaster Carr. I like these wheels too. They are Jconcepts RC10B4 Rulux wheels. I had to buy two sets to get fronts and backs. They four to a package in each size.
