What is the best dye to use to dye parts black ?

What is the best way to dye them ?

There are probably a few threads on this that you could search for that would explain the process, some have slightly different methods, but the results are usually similar.

I like to string all the parts up as it makes it easy to get them all in and out of the solution at once, instead of fishing around for that last shock clamp or other small part in a black liquid.

Some have found that the RIT liquid black does a better job at getting a deep black result than the powdered stuff.
I've used both and have to agree, for black the liquid is better, but for other colors the powdered stuff does well.

IMHO, for black, RIT liquid dye is definitely the way to go.

One other tip: the parts should be CLEAN; obviously no dirt, but no oil or grease, either. This goes for NIP, as well. Many new parts will have a mold release film that needs to be scrubbed off. Simple Green works great at getting even the dirtiest parts clean.
