No problema.
If I was supposed to respond to that last post, let me know. It sounded like you were going to give some info to respond to, but I might be reading it wrong...
Anyways, onward.
Here is the kit that got me started in collecting old stuff. I bought this in 2001 and got it ridiculously cheap by comparison to what these sell for today. Low 200's if I am remembering correctly. And it was in shrink wrap. I was just browsing eBay in a fit of boredom and happened across this thing. I got into RC about the time the RC10 Graphite was released, so this was purchased sheerly for curiosity. As you can see, the box end with the part number, description, and price is actually not a sticker. It is direct printed on the box. I am not really an expert on the old stuff, but from what I have seen, this is unusual. It came with the rounded profile front tires and tie rods so short that I have to pose it for the picture. They barely stay in on their own!
Steve Pond from RCCA (now with Kyosho) emailed me to tell me these were the new tires. I believed him for some reason and bought a set of ribbed ones and used the front tires shown in the pics on other projects (where they were put into actual use). As it turns out, I believe these to be the oldest version, although I am curious to hear other's opinions on this.

The first and second pics have been "borrowed" from me many times. A few posts ago I described an eBayer who did so, but also the Assocaited entry on wikipedia uses the second image, as well as several other sites. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Associated_Electrics as an example. I did not edit that article to include the pic, but the person who did claimed it was their image

Thank you, sir.
From the time I saw my first hobby grade RC, a Frog (which was a bit dated at the time), I knew this was a hobby for me. I have so many RC things now that even liquidating would be a daunting task. I sell or otherwise dispose of almost nothing. I have parts from my very first kit, an RC10 Graphite (see Paragon Jump jets thread). Many of my friends woulds sell their old stuff to pay for the new stuff. I would just run the old stuff longer until I could afford the new stuff. When I discovered this forum, I stayed up until 4am on a work night! I had found the holy grail of RC10

my 6010 kit is identical to yours. the box, with the tag printed directly on the box, the rounded front tires. as far as i know, it was the earliest version. although, there were kits that came with the fiberglass battery holddowns. i would believe they were out before our kits, but ours are still very early in the production run.

The "1928 East Edinger" address stuff is the earliest, which that box has. The motor should also have that address on the sticker. Is the chassis unstamped (no letter A)?scr8p wrote:my 6010 kit is identical to yours. the box, with the tag printed directly on the box, the rounded front tires. as far as i know, it was the earliest version. although, there were kits that came with the fiberglass battery holddowns. i would believe they were out before our kits, but ours are still very early in the production run.

Tons of knowledge about the old kits on this board.
I just checked and the RC10 in the pics has the A on the bottom, which had not even noticed before, and the address on the motor is East Edinger.
I have never seen a fiberglass battery strap, but I'll be looking for it now when I see kits.

I just found the thread about the diamond wing buttons and fiberglass battery straps.
http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?t=215
...which made me think of another thing:
qctires, in the thread above, linked to the instruction manual that came with this RC10. A few months after building this car, I scanned all the pages and put them up on my website. The manual came in two separate parts; a book with only words, and a book with only pics. You can check it out here.
All other manuals I have seen for the original RC10 are not like this. They have a single book with the words and pics mixed together.
