That doesn't surprise me. I understand from the Company that I have been dealing with that it all comes down to the particular piece of plastic being plated and whether there are any inherent imperfections which cause a problem with the plating process. My parts have not turned out too badly anyway but I may have some more done in the future so that I have some spares.

I'm still deciding on what type of paint job to give mine. Box Art looks traditionally good but I don't think it fits with the bling scheme that well. I'm thinking of trying to get hold of some chrome paint to give the wheel arches a chrome effect, to create a border around the windows, and to use for the "F O R D" lettering. Not sure about the rest of the vehicle though. Maybe a nice burgundy with black speed lines - should contrast nicely with the Chrome paint.

Anyone have any suggestions/recommendations/pictures of examples which are not box art that they can post?

Matt black and some Miller decals: like a promotional truck they'd put on display at big events. Maybe dress-up a barbie doll as beer-girl with matching wear, and you've got a concourse winner

Not a bad idea! Would have to throw some gold in there too - I already have the miller decals as I was going to use them for an RC10 paint job and have enough to do two jobs. Do you have pics of the promotional truck you are referring to?

:) no pics, just a fictional thing in my head. Shodog has a nice miller car; an old tamiya or rc10 if I remember well.

I think the matt balck brings the bling of the other parts out and the gold of the miller look goes well with the tecna's

Realised that I hadn't updated this thread with my Blackfoot build. So here are some pics of the build now finished. The only thing remains is to paint the shell.....but that's a task for when the blasted weather finally turns for the better.....

Ok, all, I still have to complete the paint job for this build. Given the amount of time/money that I've ploughed into it, I want to have the best vintage paint job I can get for this build. Does anyone know of an expert (preferably in the UK) who could do a top-notch paint job?

The truck is looking sick!

I don't know of any painters in the UK. You could always try it yourself. I'm no great body painter, but I've had very good success with Tamiya spray paints. They're quite forgiving and they dry quickly. I usually do a few coats, top it off with clear and then rub the whole thing out with Tamiya rubbing compound. Of course if there are flaws between coats you can always take care of them with some fine sand paper.

Thanks for the advice. To be honest, my painting experience is fairly limited. I would really like to re-create the old Big Foot colour scheme - a true icon of the 80s monster truck scene - but could never do it justice myself. Hence the reason for asking if anyone knows of any experts here in the UK. It would seem that they don't, so I might be forced to do it myself in any event....

Thanks for the compliments re the Truck though (I'm assuming you are using the word "sick" in a complimentary sense... :D )
