that would be the "team car" upper deck. the one paul is using on this is a "worlds" upper deck.SteveK wrote: I've seen one version of the upper-deck chassis with some brackets or something on the side, trying to avoid any unnecessary hardware.

Well, she’s all painted and stickered up. Lots of little mistakes on the paint, but considering it’s my first paint job in about 15 years, I’m pretty happy with it overall.
Now all I have left is to install the electrics, glue some tires and get the suspension setup.
A subtle “eat my vintage dust” message.

awesome looking car, looks like something just released with those wheels/tires. Your secret black substance doesn't happen to be cfx is it, we used to make it where I work. Used to be a top secret pine car derby mod.

Thanks, guys.
It's just the graphite powder we use on the pinewood car's wheels and axles.junkman wrote:Your secret black substance doesn't happen to be cfx is it, we used to make it where I work. Used to be a top secret pine car derby mod.

I third this. Always wondered what the Protech 4 would look like on a RC10, now I know.

Awesome build Paul. Very nice to see a build as unique as this one. Love the body and paint too.

Another nice thing about this body is that you don't have to take the wing off to remove the body. A task I am generally getting tired of on mine.
Did you use RC10T body mounts for the rear?

Re: 2.2 Vintage Racer
Actually, that's my back-up plan – to install a couple of body mounts in the outer trailing arm pivot holes. But I’d rather not punch any more holes in the body, if I can avoid it. I'm attempting to mount the under tray, and if that works, I'll just use Velcro to secure the rear of the body to the tray. I was originally just going to use Velcro in the areas where the body meets the upper deck, but I don't think there's enough surface area to hold it securely.Brandon G wrote:Did you use RC10T body mounts for the rear?

Re: 2.2 Vintage Racer
wow, great job on this car...looks great too.
I used lunsford standoff for my top deck, but they strip really easy if you over tighten the screws. Do you or anyone know where I can get some decent standoffs?

Thanks.
I'm using the plastic stand-offs that come with the CC worlds chassis. So the Lundsford strip easily? Are they tapped for 4-40 or 3mm screws?

Re: 2.2 Vintage Racer
they are made for 3mm screws, I guess that would explain why may 4-40 screws keep tearing the up
anyone need 6 stripped standoffs?

Re: 2.2 Vintage Racer
FYI I am currently having repro standoffs made in white nylon and should have in hand in a few weeks--because I can't ever seem to find them anywhere
