Re: Why Mr Lex Should Not Build RC10's
The early RC10T is all done for the most part. The only thing I need is a mint early Stealth gear cover, for now it's gone to rest on the shelf!
Problem solved! This is how it should look Mr Lex!

Re: Why Mr Lex Should Not Build RC10's
just wondering......... why is it that every early 10t is built with the narrow front tires. they did come with 2 different pairs of fronts in the box, you know.

1) because they were "outlawed" by ROAR in 1992scr8p wrote:just wondering......... why is it that every early 10t is built with the narrow front tires. they did come with 2 different pairs of fronts in the box, you know.
2) because it further adds the "early" effect
3) because your 10t didn't have them

Re: Why Mr Lex Should Not Build RC10's
maybe you misunderstood me. the 7001 team truck kits (the earliest ones) came with 2 different front tires in the kit (3 complete pairs of tires). the narrow ones, and the proline 7045's. so, how would the 7045's not add the "early effect"?Charlie don't surf wrote:1) because they were "outlawed" by ROAR in 1992scr8p wrote:just wondering......... why is it that every early 10t is built with the narrow front tires. they did come with 2 different pairs of fronts in the box, you know.

all i'm saying is there's 2 options out there that will still be "correct" to use on an early 10t. just wondering why everyone picks the same option. i think the 7045's are cool as hell.

Re: Why Mr Lex Should Not Build RC10's
I just love the look of the narrow front's, it makes the early 10T special (not Reg and Halgar's type of special, short bus, hockey helmetscr8p wrote:maybe you misunderstood me. the 7001 team truck kits (the earliest ones) came with 2 different front tires in the kit (3 complete pairs of tires). the narrow ones, and the proline 7045's. so, how would the 7045's not add the "early effect"?Charlie don't surf wrote:1) because they were "outlawed" by ROAR in 1992scr8p wrote:just wondering......... why is it that every early 10t is built with the narrow front tires. they did come with 2 different pairs of fronts in the box, you know.

Thanks for all the compliments, and thanks to all the guys on RC10talk that I got parts to make this truck complete. My former near mint shelf queen will now be a runner!

Paul, I sure hope my cells don't leak!

Re: Why Mr Lex Should Not Build RC10's
I’m sure not offering any guarantees here, but I have a considerable number of 1400 SCR, some 1700 SCE and 1200 SCRs, no issue with leaking as far as I can tell. Including a bunch of cycling, both mild and abusive to a few 1400s about a year ago in an unsuccessful attempt to see if I could revive them for full vintage runs. Best I got was about 3 laps, punch noticeably decreased corner to corner.
But better safe than sorry, especially with queens like this tasty example. An idea for a little extra safety, shrink wrap them. My local shop still has clear pack wrap, some guys wrap their lipos with it.
