I forgot to mention - the front bumper on this car was broken so I trimmed it up and made a sort of micro-bumper or bumperette out of it. You can just see it peeking out in this pic.

Ok, as I said I'm held for fasteners. I'd buy in bulk but I just added up the cost and it would probably be more than both these buggies are worth put together! There are more than 30 different screw and nut types on these buggies. Any suggestions for relatively inexpensive replacements?

you might be able to buy a screw kit for a similar model, i've seen screw kits on ebay, for something like a blue eagle or similar.

edit: no problem: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXJJ51&P=7

they have a few other kits too. hardware should be no issue for you.....

FYI the screw kits or hing pin kits on tower or e-bay only cover about half of the screws on the TRX-1. The hing pins, only 6 of the 10 work and the screw kit is close but you'll have to buy at least 2. No tranny screws, not all the bottom chasis screws either.

I also used the associated soft aluminum on mine

i used the stainless flat head 8-32 screws from fastnerexpress on mine, they fit fine and i like them cause they have a hex drive as opposed to a phillips, which im sick of stripping the phillips

there are a few other kits on tower too, and they are nice enough to provide a breakdown of what you are getting, so take a look at tower before you order just that kit. I searched under 'traxxas screw' there were at least 2 other kits, i think blue eagle, and stampede or something.....between all those, you should be covered.

I've also used 8-32 screws on the traxxas parts too, so just another confirmation.

Made a bit of progress on the lesser of the two cars. The front end is all RC10 from the A arms out. Since this car is not mint and I have another nicer one, I'm keeping it that way for the time being. Besides it allows me to run these great rims! I have some turnbuckes now so that's the next order of business. This car will get one of Brandon's repop Pro-X bodies.

Those cars definitely went to a good place. Good decision on keeping the rc10 arms on; sets it apart from the 13 in a dozen restos

OK, sneak peek. I spent some time last weekend getting this closer to the goal. I have trimmed a ProX body by Brandon to fit, still needs some trimming. I have to figure out how to mount the rear of the body to the shock tower - should be fun. Everything is covered in fingerprints at the moment so not as pretty as could be.

Howabout an angle bracket to which you can mount to the shock tower and use velcro to secure the body.

Just a thought.

That's a good thought. I have some RC10T rear body mounts that I was looking at adapting to this. Like everything else I do this project is on the back burner. I even went so far as to rob the rims off this car for another of my buggies.
