I agree!
He looks great in that picture. I am hoping that WebSteve will show him the images of my car, and when I finish my v.2 car as well for comparison and feedback from this Master Machinist.

Re: My Box Art replicas of the RC10
rctenracer,
Here is the heatsink that Assoman posted representative of the early Novak used. Note no number, 3 adjustment pots and uniquely machined heatsinks. I decided to not even try to hunt hard for his Novak as it is hard to see the 3rd pot with that tie-wrap on it, and probably almost impossible to find. I used an old Novak 1 that has 3 wires instead of 4. The heatsinks I have on it in these images is temporary, as my final one is being machined for me duplicating the one in this photo.

Re: My Box Art replicas of the RC10
Ruffy, your car looks great. However I think the white Team Associated decal and the placement on the top of the wing is wrong. The original decal is the smaller one, much smaller letters (I think it's found on the original AE sheet that I wish Jay would make again!
). I can't remember where I have seen it but I have seen pictures of the other end of the wing and it had the last parts of AssociATED showing. There is no way one sticker can cover the entire length of the wing. I can only assume it had the EA logo placed in between the Team Associated, like this: TEAM AE ASSOCIATED.

Ruffy . I bid on a novak 1 on ebay and lost . So the t-4 wil do for now. But I did dye the rear shock mounts red. I have a body and wing uncut from a edinger kit but my painting skills aren't that great.

Re: My Box Art replicas of the RC10
Slotcarrod, yeah I now see the small letter decal now from that ad, thanks for letting me know. I still have a decal with the small Team Associated in white as well, so I will use one on the v2 wing and if it looks correct, then I'll switch out the v1 as well. I'm happy with the one on there now though.
rctenracer, I agree. If you don't have an early Novak 1, or the regular Novak 1 then just use the 4. Once you add the tie wrap its almost identical anyways.
I myself am an OK painter, and feel I could do the boxter paint, but would rather rely on my friend who has been painting bodies since before I quit racing. Just find yourself a painter, and look at his work and decide.
UPDATE!
I just got my brand new, original RC10 rear tires. Like my fronts, these do not say Goodyear either, but thats good since the box art car he had them mounted so that the wording was on the inside towards the car. I got these from a friend all the way out in Alaska!
If these tires could talk, oh my.
Here is a pic as I just wiped them down with simple green and a little Formula 2001 to preserve the rubber.

Re: My Box Art replicas of the RC10
Nobody's ever seen the entire top side of the wing, too bad there aren't any photos to see what they did up there, sticker wise.

Re: My Box Art replicas of the RC10
Now all you need to do is take the car out and run it a few times to get the true box art car with the dirt and all. JK
Very nice, I can't wait to see V2. I bet it will be the best example to date.

Re: My Box Art replicas of the RC10
Yes they are.
I initially approached him for this, and he graciously agreed to make them. After a few test sets made, his final result is now available in the BST area so that we all can enjoy his work.
I also got the front ones anodized light gold for the replica.
Thanks, I enjoyed this build although I have to admit it is expensive doing one of these. What with the shock towers being different, specific 3 wire Novak, Airtronics gear, the Yellow 1200 mAh Sanyo Cadnica stick pack with the extra cell on top (7 cell total per the box), the man figure, the stickers, shock collars, tires, front and rear sway bars, old style spring cups front and rear (per the box art), square notch pistons, e-clip tranny pivot, rounded nose, note large square window netting, (I finally located the netting they actually used which was like a micro-rope large square design and it iwll be on v.2) did I say tires front and rear (7 groove fronts and specific rears) and an original blended body paint with the stripes and stickers. It's quite expensive. The color of my v1 is not correct as it is just orange. My v.2 body will be identical to the box art color which is a blend of colors, just to add more difficulty into the equation.
The easiest part of this was just restoring an old Edinger car I had, whitening treatment on everything, and acquiring new rims front and rear. The box is the one with the ink stamp on the ends, so I shrink wrapped it since it is in such good condition.

Re: My Box Art replicas of the RC10
I already have a set of both from him and they look wonderful! I may re-tap my uppers to the 4-40. What size did you get. I already lost one of the set screws
. I don't have anything to use them on YET but I have something really cool in my brain but who knows when I'll get to it.
Mike
BTW, Who did the anodizing? It looks great! What did they charge for something that small or did you bring them in a large batch to do?
