Alright, nearly done. I still need to find some wing mounts for the rear shock tower, similar to how they work on a Yokomo yz10. And I do have a new B3 body that will need to get painted, but I ran it for a bit and plan to race Tuesday night at an indoor carpet off road track. It's set up with a Savox servo although I may look for the smaller version and install that, a Tekin RS Pro esc, and a 10.5T brushless Speedpassion motor.
I ended up ditching the Dynotech carpet arms for RPM arms to get back to the stock width and stance.
Awesome purple B3, GJW! What front shock tower is that, and I see that the rear arm mounts are metal, are those Racer's Edge? If you haven't already check out my gallery for photos of my blue "Factory Team" shelfer B3 which has a ton of tricked out stuff on it.
I raced the purple B3 last night and had a fantastic time! Met up with Clay (suby56) and had some good conversation and the turnout Tuesday night isn't the madhouse Friday nights are at this indoor carpet offroad track near us in MN.
I of course finished dead last, but at least my old B3 had some moves thanks to the 10.5T brushless set up, and Clay mercifully letting me borrow his real rubber compound rear tires from his gold pan old is new! I was sliding all over the track with the Prolines and the regular guys told me it was because real rubber tires as opposed to latex based were the key. They were all running Schumacher tires or DBoots, and Clay's tires were DBoots. I kep the Prolines on the fronts because it was doing ok, but I probably could have had better turn in had I also used Clay's front tires. I just ordered some Schumachers and maybe will get DBoots for the next time.
My driving is ok I think, and I was getting faster as the night went on with Clay remarking that my laps in the 2nd heat were 2 seconds faster or so. Still the guys running B4's and the Losi 22 buggies were flying, and they are all set up to be very low to the ground, pretty hard suspension setups from what I can tell and wicked fast turn-in. To really be competitive I would have to not only switch tires but slam the B3 down a bit more and put stiffer springs on I think.
The main thing is, I had fun! And of course I was the only guy with an old buggy!
I shot this quick video of the 2wd mod class's 2nd heat, warming up before the race. Gives you an idea of how low they are to the ground and how quick they are!
Lookin' good Adam! I like the way it looks w/o the wing in that first pic. Obviously wouldn't fair too well on the track that way, but looks cool. I may have a pair of purple wing mounts. If I do you can have them. I'll have to dig a box out so it may be a couple of days.
