I threw up the Bat signal to someone I think would be a lot of help with your particular dilemma. He may be busy, but he will have some good advice once he has time.

Wider arms might help, but I would try a different set of tires first with less grip.

Looking good and don't give up on the vintage. It will feel great beating those 22s after you get it dialed.

http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=27135 there is a decent amount of setup info here, all pertaining to clay and or dirt though. Greenhell has some decent carpet off road time here- tires are critical

Thanks again.

I don't plan to give up on this. I have 2 weeks until I can get back to the track. I plan to :

1) lower ride height. I am at 29mm front and 30mm rear. I will shoot for 24mm. This is going to cause the suspension to be more "v" shaped, as it is pretty straight now.

2) I think I wil try to find lower profile wheels. Those are dboots blockpass A fronts and dboots nanobyte rear. These are what most people were using. But I would prefer to get the chassis to handle those tires, but until it does lower grip tires and lower profile may help get me around.

3) they run a stock slash class, I think i will run this while I work on getting the RC10 (and myself) into racing form.

The cheese grate chassis is looking good!

Where are you planning on running this? I'm in MN as well.

I would investigate what the other guys are running as far as shock oil and springs. I think you might want to use a little thicker oil and maybe bump up to the next rate rear spring(stiffer). Try to get the car to slide, the work backwards to gain traction back since you know how to get a bunch.

if you can get some non-race track time that will always help too, test-n-tune or practice laps.

Swaybars would probably help too. They help to control roll without having to make the suspension super stiff.

And maybe an almost slick tire to help attain some slide-action as opposed to the tread slipping to a degree and then suddenly catching and throwing the thing into traction roll.

Just a little update.

I realized I have very bad bump steer. I should have noticed it earlier. I have been comparing the front end to a b4.1, looking for ways to improve, and I realized how bad it was.
So, see if my logic is correct:

As the car turns, the outside suspension compresses, and as it compresses the outside wheel toes in because of bump steer. I imagine that this could actually put the wheel at an angle that is across, or inside, the direction the car is moving. And on a surface with little or no slip it "catches" and causes the car to flip.
Right?

I have lowered the ride height, and put a spacer under ball stud on the steering thing (i can't think of the proper name) which has improved the bump steer.

I have also ordered the dynotech arms. I have a RC10T2 that doesn't get alot of use that can donate the extra parts. Hopefully I will have it together early next week, and I will post some updated pictures.

I've been following this thread as I have a GoldPan I would like to build into a vintage racer that can keep up with the newer guys. Good luck with it and keep it up!!

Dynotech arms, 35wt oil frnt, 30 rear. I am starting with the blue truck front springs front, silver springs rear. 25mm ride height front, about 26 mm rear. I have -1 degree camber front and rear, although I have a hard time measuring it. The toe is abour 0 degrees.
Those Kyosho shocks rear are cool, but I think they are gone next round.

Main thing is bump steer is gone (pretty much). i also realised that I had the expotential steering setting on the transmitter on and it was backwards (oops).

Also made an RC10talk.com sticker, so that should Wow the competition.

What do you think?

Excellent to see, sorry I missed this thread. It would be great to meet up at MMR sometime, I haven't been since last Fall and I always ran my B3. Since then I have the makings of an old is new gold pan that I'd like to run, but I was also hoping to get up to the new outdoor track that is north of Forest Lake but our Oct weekends were way too busy to drive up. Also my son is now a better driver and older since he first started at MMR with his Slash (and how he has a B4) so I'd like to get there with him to try racing again.

I'm in Mendota Heights, where are you located?

I am sure this isn't what you expected, but I live right by St. Thomas Academy.
