Re: RCSoup RC10 Project - Opinions wanted.
Heh looks like when the car was originally listed it had Andy's rear arms but for some reason the seller swapped 'em for the later edition white arms.
In the pics it looks like the seller may have a Worlds car too. That would be the one to buy.

Re: RCSoup RC10 Project - Opinions wanted.
I actually have no idea where this car came from. A member of RCTech came forward on a wanted ad. I believe he met with that seller and then shipped to me. I did find that listing. Weird.
As to that shopping list. I think I agree.. JC wheels may be the way to go. They fit the 1/4" axles if I got a set of MIP cvd's, and are 2.2 for modern tires?
This is what I'm thinking based on the above list and my thoughts.
-a tub chassis (shipping monday)
-Stealth Transmission (shipping monday)
-RPM front & rear arms
-MIP CVD's
-B4 v2 shocks (or at least threaded bodies)
-RC Carbon Works towers for B4 shocks
-ball bearing steering (not sure which brand??)
-JC Racing wheels
-Pro-Line tires
-RPM ball cups
-Lunsford turnbuckles
-nose tubes
-full FastEddy bearing kit

JC Racing wheels for the RC10 will fit 1/4" axles and are 2.2" dia. but the wheels are narrow compared to modern wheels so some modern tires may not fit as well as you'd like.
For bellcranks you can still get an A&L set new from their website, or buy any brand used RC10 set off eBay.

Anyone know which RPM ball cups I'd need (standard? Heavy duty?), and what length turnbuckles?

Re: RCSoup RC10 Project - Opinions wanted.
Standard duty ball cups should be good enough. As for the turnbuckles, I'd have to look them up in a manual. BTW, Associated has all of the RC10 manuals available on their web page.
Classics rule, moderns drool
Re: RCSoup RC10 Project - Opinions wanted.
if you are doing the standard old is new then stock rc10ce turnbuckle lenghts work fine with rpm std dutys (even hd's will work in some spots).
Re: RCSoup RC10 Project - Opinions wanted.
So my stealth Tranny and Tub chassis should be in the mail today.
I decided to (for now) go with modern shocks since I will be racing this. I picked up a set of Kyosho Velvet shocks. They are the same size as the B4 shocks.
I'm going to run RC Carbon Works shock towers. http://rccarbonworks.com/store/index.php?route=product/category&path=20_36
I'm still a little confused as to which ones I need though for these shocks.
I'd like to get this one for the front:
Associated RC 10 Extended World's Front Shock Tower
http://rccarbonworks.com/store/index.php?route=product/product&path=20_36&product_id=104
It says Running front .89" shocks from the B4, these towers give you the extra mounting holes for your shocks.
And for the rear:
Associated RC 10 Short World's Rear Shock Tower
http://rccarbonworks.com/store/index.php?route=product/product&path=20_36&product_id=105
Running the B4 1.18" Rear shocks, these towers are lowered for the correct ride height.
Is that right? Extended front Worlds, and Short Rear tower? I spoke with Dan on the phone yesterday from RC Carbon Works. He was helpful. At that point I hadn't made the decision to run modern shocks..
Thanks guys! Can't wait to start tearing into this thing.

Re: RCSoup RC10 Project - Opinions wanted.
You're gonna be using taller front and shorter rear shocks than a standard rc10 buggy. So you need a taller front and shorter rear tower.
Also, rpm ball cups are slightly longer than standard associated cups. I always get shorter than stock turnbuckles to compensate.

Re: RCSoup RC10 Project - Opinions wanted.
Stealth and tub chassis arrived. I will get pics soon.
Got a white stealth tranny, and a black tub chassis. Also received a black motor plate and nose plate as well as black nose tubes.
Think I might stick with the black. If it were going to be a mix of black and gold I was going to consider having someone powdercoat or anodize the chassis. Still might?
Either way.. it's a step in the right direction.

JC Wheels on order. I need to figure out what tires to run for VONats.

I will probably run it somewhere before heading down for VONats.
CRC is where I spend most summer race weekends.. but we'll see. Pretty sure VONats is outdoor again this year so practicing on a similar surface would be ideal.

Got wheels in the other day. A set of white and a set of yellow from JC Racing in the UK. They look really good! I just need to figure what the hot tire at the VONats track will be.
