Yes, you can set up tents. I can also rent out my 10x10 shed. There's no wi-fi though.

Re: Coming Soon
Do we have to bring our own power strips? I need enough juice to run my power supply/charger, soldering iron, fan, light, etc.
I think back to those days of racing and how much crap we used to bring. Most of us could probably get by today without any power.
I'd definitely try to make it there when you host the PA World's race.
The biggest mistake I made when trying to build my track was not using a sod cutter. I used a shovel, rake and finally a Polaris RZR to run in most of it. But the weeds just grew back within a few weeks even after using weed killer.

Re: Coming Soon
i upgraded my house to 200 amp a few years back, so there is plenty of power on tap.
one reason behind this, other than being able to walk out my back door and have a track right there to run on, is to try and get guys together from the site that are around my area maybe once or twice a month. hang out, run some cars, throw some food on the grill, etc. i've been wanting to have a get together for awhile now, but the fact that i work weekends so i can have off when my wife is off (tuesdays and wednesdays) doesn't help. that and the fact that something health wise always seems to creep up because my body f'n hates me.

Re: Coming Soon
so i was out surveying the area today, trying to get some ideas of a layout. came inside and watched some videos of races on youtube. then i though.... why not see what some of you guys can dream up.
so if you're ever bored and feel like playing around with "paint", save this image and have fun with it. i added a red borders to the pic for the basic length/width the track will be, so design inside of them with a different color. just remember though, i'm not interested in a ton of jumps (especially big ones). maybe 6ft wide lanes. hoping for it to be kinda fast and just flow. think 85 worlds, 89 worlds. vids of them are on youtube if you need some reference.
have fun.

Re: Coming Soon
Why not copy a Google maps image, easier to lay out and gives a better perspective of size?

Re: Coming Soon
So you don't want a speed wall going up to the roof on the left? I'm out of ideas then.
I really like your thinking on keeping it small and simple like the old tracks. That's how I tried to design mine after I found some track layouts from the old NORRCA events in a magazine.

Re: Coming Soon
The old tracks didn't incorporate every inch of available space like today. Or square corners.
Personally I liked the grass infields etc.

Re: Coming Soon
exactly. to be honest, my ideas seem to come back to the 1/24 king style slot car tracks i used to race on back in the day. just have to change the loop around, or make it and over under type of deal.RC10th wrote:The old tracks didn't incorporate every inch of available space like today. Re: Coming Soon
Jason,
Since you are into dirt oval, I think you should do a dirt oval outside loop, then have a section where you enter the infield have some switchbacks, and then exit back onto the oval. Best of both worlds.
That's how the first track i was introduced to had their layout - when I started checking out races. (A few years before i could participate.)
