That was a 31,000 original mile car I found here locally, I built a 2 liter with CB fuel injection and I made a custom alt conversion for it. Should have never let that one go. It was sold to a guy in SoCal.

Yup, you're right. Should have kept it!

Now this is perfection!!!

Thank you for sharing your photos - there's some real gorgoeus VWs there - some real raritys too!... That barn door 23 window Samba! 8)

I've been a massive VW fan since my parents had a 65 Beetle when we were children, & have been going to many of the shows here in the UK (& some on the continent) since my late teens. I've never owned an aircooled Dub - but would love a Beetle one day, I have however owned a German import Type 25 (or T3) Whitestar Multivan with a horrible diesel engine :| & I still own (for ten years now) my 1979 VW Derby.

Its great to see the enthusiasm for the marque is still strong in California - the birthplace of the modified Beetle... the Cal-look or 'Resto-Cal' style is synonimous to the VW scene. Its also nice to see that the humble bug is still the most popular VW at such shows, over here it the Transporters/Camper vans that are the most numerous - often Beetles are fairly few & far between!

Next year you gotta make it out for sure! Maybe I'll have my 57 on the road by then too. There's normally a lot more Vrods there, this year was just kinda off due to the date and location change. It was a bit of a mess, but will get better in the coming years. There's normally a bunch of barndoors on display too :? Maybe they were just at OCTO and didn't stick around for the Classic.

Might be a bit far for me to drive

I wish I could go to any VW show but most of the time, I don't have the time. I would just love to buy an old air cooled VW someday.
