Son's first RC10

My middle son and I decided to build his first rig and of course "GUESS WHAT IT IS" hell ya an RC10. I got this car from an old friend who stopped racn 91-92 "i like buildn with my dad" quote from my Son, i think i have tears startn Here it is [/img][/img][/img][/img][/img]

My youngest son Came home from day with MOM, and saw us building. I knew what was next. Im going to be helping with TWO buggies for the boyz I tell ya it just breaks my heart to build another one

My older son is 5 and a half...I hesitate on starting with him now.
Don't know he ha would be able to drive well, and also to consider it as more than a simple toy.
The younger one would also be a little jealous.

What transmitter do you have for him ?
Is is something smaller than usual one ?
Pistol or sticks ?

Fun to see the car is mutch more older than the driver!!!!!!!

I think it's great he has an appreciation for Star Wars as well. I see he's got a clone trooper in the background for when he needs a break from R/C .

I wondered if any one would see tha little trooper. He and his brother pack them everywhere. Its more like a break from his storm troopers--{and halo and soldiers and war hammer figures} to do an rc car. He draws them and plays with them looks at the u tube videos of the cartoons paints them build cities. I wish they had those when STAR WARS came out PS--I like playn with them too

I let my almost 3 year old drive with my 3pks/spektrum tx.
for the one car he is allowed to drive completely by himself(a tamiya tlt-1) I have 2 memory slots set up. When I drive it or help him drive, it is on the memory with full control. If I am handing the remote over to him I quickly switch to a different memory slot which has the throtle epa set to 50% for both forward and reverse. The spektrum module means no antenna to break/use as a weapon.

The other radio I like for the kids is the stock transmitter that losi includes with some of their RTR cars. This one is a very basic pistol grip, but it is on 2.4ghz. It has steering dual rate, but no throttle limiting, and none of the fancy adjustments. The nice thing about it is again no signifigant antenna, but this one uses only 4AA instead of 8, and seems to be a little smaller than the average controller and is definately lighter.

On this side of the pond we have mostly entry level stick radios(or the rediculously expensive high end ones which I have not tried). The couple of cheapie sticks I have let the kids use both have the same probblem. the trims are right there and easily hit by excited kids, which tends to make the cars keep going as they jam the throttle trim all the way forward. With some of the nicer stick radios with digital trims this likely does not apply.

There are some 27mhz transmitters that can be had on ebay about as cheap as a replacement antenna from a retail outlet as there are sellers breaking up complete RTR cars/trucks to sell as parts. The associated XP2 tx is rather lightweight and has both steering and throttle end point adjustments, perfect for limiting speed.

I am building a rc10 runner for my boy also, he is 5 1/2 and loves the rc10. He has a hopped up mini t now but, he has been helping me on my shelfer projects and keeps asking when are we going to run them. So I bought a pile of parts and started on a runner for him. I will post a thread when it is done.

Dude I'm a huge star wars geek (hence why I noticed). I still own every one of the original figures (minus just one or two), I have them tucked away safe and sound in their collectors cases at my parents house.

Stormtroopers have always been one of my favorite characters. Here's a pic I snapped two years ago at the Rose Parade when George Lucas was the grand marshal (you son should appreciate this one).
