What MIP Tranny Did I Just Score?

Post by FasterLouder »

I hadn't checked into eBay for a day or two and when I did,I found that I had won this MIP tranny for the RC10 for the pittance of US$20!
It's totally complete, apart from the three bolts that hold it together (thankfully) and even includes a NIP rebuild kit.
What do I have here?
Is it the SP-1 MIP tranny?
Bearrickster has kindly gifted me a factory green powdercoated RC10 chassis, looks like I have a cool tranny for it. :D

COOL!!!

Do I have to drill any holes in my 'A' stamped chassis to fit it?
My RC10 has the 6 gear in it...Then again,it's going to be installed in a factory green powdercoated chassis-I have only a rough ideas of when they were released-will it fit the green chassis without mods?

It will work ok, but it is not going to be period correct as the green chassies were more designed for the Stealth tranny even though they offer the possibility to bolt a 6-gear tranny as well.

I've re-thought this and I'm going to stab it into my 'A' chassis RC10.
I hope the plate the spur bolts to is there...I'm glad the outdrives are!
I'll go ask the guy...He said it was just missin' the 3 through bolts.
I have a few sets of early Stealth internals, all NIP as spares for my T2's tranny (which has only "needed" one rebuild in 4 years!),I guess I'll just buy a case and run that in the green car.

BTW-When were those green powdercoated chassis made and were they for sale to the general pulic,or only to Team drivers?
I'm glad it's not pink/red!

seems my green chassis has found another home....

the t2 internals wont work in the OG stealth...2.25 VS 2.40 ratios

He he,another Joey King piece for my collection! :P

Rats...That's cool,I can hustle up a Stealth for it,no worries.
I know a powdercoater that does my stuff for next to nada,so it'll get a freshen up,for sure.

On a TOTALLY unrelated note-I got the induction package for my 302W Ford Capri race car sorted-Weiand Stealth manifold and a 600cfm Edelbrock carbie...SWEET!
Damn close to NZ$1000 right there...

Those carbs are great.I bolted one on my 289 and it gained instant smooth HPs.Mine was a Carter but same thing.Ive allways been a windsor man but my latest engine is a clevo.Still revs to 8400 rpm so Im pritty happy with it.Just got to find someone to build a decent C4.Lets see a pic of this Capri.I love em  .

Can do,Brother!
I'm thinking of converting my 302 Windsor into a Boss 302 with 2V Clevo heads...Sometme!
Go for the case fill C4's,with the smaller 157 tooth flex plate, rather than the pan fill,164 tooth flexplate,if you can.
