Micro Losi problem
I got myself a little Team Losi Micro Buggy to chase the pets with
trouble is it won't charge. You have a seperate charging unit that holds 8 AA batterys and you charge the nicad in the buggy off that. Only thing is it won't charge..no lights nothing..so I ran a voltage meter over it and it read 12.5 volts...so I figured it most be the nicad in the car so I took it back to the model shop..the guy said "no problem mate they all do that".."you just need to plug and unplug it a few times to sort of jump start the nicad"...so I came home and did as he suggested but still after dozens of tries it still won't charge. So has anybody heard of this problem before or is he having me on?

Re: Micro Losi problem
I thought about getting one of those for the same reason, lol. That's strange about the batteries. If you had a programable AC charger and tracked down an adapter (if they exist
) you could probably charge them that way. Wish I could be more help.
I saw someone on another forum put a small brushless motor and a LiPo battery in one of those. I immagine that thing would probably twist itself in two.

Re: Micro Losi problem
I've had them do funky things. IS there any voltage in the battery?
sometimes just leaving it connected to the charger for a few minutes will do the trick.
I wound up cutting off the connector from the cheapie charger and hooking it up to a normal RC charger. I forget the settings I used, something like .2 or .4a. That seems to do better at waking up packs that have run flat or been stored for too long without recharging.

Re: Micro Losi problem
Experienced the same type of problem with my losi micros. It typically happens if I let the batteries sit for an extended period of time or if I left them plugged in after I ran the car. The factory charger will not charge a battery if it is really run down low. You will probably need to put some charge in it from another charger before the factory charger will work. I ended up not using the charger that came with it and just used my regular charger turned way down.

Re: Micro Losi problem
I bought a spare battery connector and made a charging jack for my regular charger just like Anthony (I wanted to keep the original chargers if I ever let them go). After the Micros sit all summer (we only basement race during the winter) I usually trickle charge (.1a) them each for 60 minutes, then run them and they usually cycle back up in 2-3 charges. They sometimes will not register at all on the supplied charger after sitting for a while.
BTW alkalines are 1.5v and nimhs/nicds are 1.2v, so if you use the rechargables in the Losi charger it will not work. I know you said you tested your voltage-- I just wanted to throw that out there for others.
Good luck!

Re: Micro Losi problem
I tried using the stock AA charger once and just wasn't into it. I cycled the batteries a few times on my 989 and they worked really well. I sold my Micro though, just wasn't into it.
Re: Micro Losi problem
I like having the micros around for those cold winter days. I can get my fix with a makeshift basement track.

Re: Micro Losi problem
For the limited time we use them I couldn't see investing in lipos as we get 6+ minute races off the stock batteries. Plus everything I do with the kids incurs cost x3...

Re: Micro Losi problem
same here I incur costs x4. Good thing is my daughter is the only other child out of the 4 of ours that have interest in Rc. I hated my micro so much lol, The brushless system gave me constant problems and it was so powerful that it would just break itself. I put a lot of money into it too with all the aluminum, lipos, carbon chassis etc. It is by far the worst rc buy I have ever done.

Re: Micro Losi problem
Glad you got it sorted out, I used to have one of those and I thought it was a blast. The best was running it next to my buddies 1/8 scale nitro Truggy
We would just laugh our butts off, doesnt take much.
One day the steering was just stuck in the right side position and it died.
Hope yours treats you right and have fun with the little guy!
