Car / Truck storage
Car / Truck storage
How does everyone store there finished cars? Off road cars when built don't fit back in their original boxes. I always kept them out for display until i got so many it was tough to keep them all clean not to mention enough display space. I looked for white suitcase style boxes to store them in but no one makes a standard size box that will fit a car / truck properly. I think i am going to get a quote for some customs but i am not looking forward to what that will cost. i want a neat organized way to keep all of my toys safe.
Re: Car / Truck storage
plastic storage tote, I can keep my radio and parts in there too. Lots of different sizes available.

Re: Car / Truck storage
I use plastic totes myself and they work like a champ. Sometimes you can find the ones that go under your bed and two cars will fit into it. Check those out at your local supply store and you might find something that will work.
Re: Car / Truck storage
the problem with bins is finding one just the right size for one car. they are also bulky and can get expensive. i need roughly 30 of them.

I have the plasic bins also but I also keep a pile of Australia Post shipping boxes. Most cars you'll be wanting to remove the rear wing and wheels (tyres wont get flat spots then) and they are very good on saving valuable space too. If you buy them as a flat pack in multiples of ten they even give you a discount. As you can see I have built a 'pigeon hole' type arrangement to store them.

Nice setup bormac.
I use Black and Decker plastic shelves. Not the most efficient use of space, but they work good.

Yeah a bit tragic I know. Everytime i move house i build a new workshop space. The first one I built was a 6 metre long add on to the side of the house we lived in. I guess being a carpenter/builder will do that to you- LOL

I feel for ya! LOL I've been a tradesman most of my life. It's nice being able to build whatever you want, the drawback is, you have to build everything you want! I've never been happy with "off the shelf", which generally means that I'm building everything I need, from cabinet organizers to chicken coops.bormac wrote:I guess being a carpenter/builder will do that to you- LOL

Re: Car / Truck storage
it's not all bad. the wifey can't stand looking at the mess, so she pretty much leaves me alone when i'm down there.
Re: Car / Truck storage
I just have shelves in my garage. I cut a piece of PVC pipe long enough to keep the tires and suspension off the shelf, that way I dont get flat spots
I have five terrorists going southeast on Bakalakadaka street.

Re: Car / Truck storage
For me I collect old Rc cars because I love the way they LOOK if I had them stashed away in boxes it would defeat the whole purpose of me owning them..they look cool so I have them where they can be looked at...as for the ones that aren't worth looking at, right now they are in the back shed..along with my lots of other projects..
