I'm assuming that most people on this board have a few cars in their collection ...I have ten and I need to figure out a good way of storing and displaying them.
I'm real tight on space, too. So tight,I rebuilt my Ford 302 in my kitchen! (no joke!)
So...What's everyone using to store and display their pride and joys?
I use a very large shed, at least 12 miles away from anywhere the Missus can go, then go and contemplate them on quiet days
Seriously though I was chasing some beautiful display cabinets a while ago, with glass doors and mirrored fronts, that were about 4 feet square and a foot deep, 3 shelves would have taken 3 1/10 on an angle at a pinch, she wouldn't let me hang them in the kitchen though, and in the Conservatory the sun would have faded them, always an issue to watch out for.
This is an old thread, but there are some good pictures. I finally got around to building a workbench for my hobby room(basement) and will have to update with some photos. http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?t=2519
Here is my set of shelving units in the basement. I share them with the kids. I've noticed the beginning of some flat-spotting on the buggy tires, so I may swap the display cars nice wheels/tires with some used/beat-up tires for shelf duty.
My latest "build" I finally got around to making a work bench in my new house. I screwed 3 2x4's into the floor joists above and built the rest of the bench free-standing, no drilling into the concrete foundation.

I keep ALL my RC Vehicles up on Blocks to prevent the Flat spots. I see you have some up on Blocks, just Block em all up. Easy fix.

I do that with all my 1:1 cars in the yard. Makes mowing the grass under them easier too.
I don't display my clods, but I do store them on a block to keep the tires from flat spotting. IMHO, some decent, decorative blocks can be made with little effort that would keep the tires from flat spotting and hold the vehicles at the best angle for viewing (canted forward at an angle ??? ). Come on, if you guys can fabricate your own parts, I think you can fabricate something to display them on properly.

No, I don't actually have my front yard covered in John Deere green painted cars on blocks. I've only got one vehicle, an '02 GMC Sierra, and it stays in the driveway where it belongs. Now, just down the street, a few blocks and there are those who do seem to collect vehicles of all shapes and sizes, I am just not one of them.

OOOhh, so you just TRICKED me into revealing my true nature. *shaking my fist*
How does everyone store there finished cars? Off road cars when built don't fit back in their original boxes. I always kept them out for display until i got so many it was tough to keep them all clean not to mention enough display space. I looked...

....AND THE WHOLE LENGTH OF MY GARAGE WALL....
I quite like this idea. It's pretty low tech, but cool way to store your cars.

Maybe will have to figure out an anti kid device.
Did you come up with anything yet? I'd be very interested in something anti kid. :D At the very least, I think I may imply this rack idea in my workspace. Very good idea. Thanks!
This is my first thread, I searched for another thread to expand on but I didn't see one on motor storage. Similar to a lot of you, I raced in the 80's as a teenager. I must have received most of my motors second hand from guys at the track. BITD...

I still have a US Mint green top Silver Eagle tube from when I was into collecting coins. I also found that one cent (penny) tubes are good to store Dremel sanding disks. I need to get some quarter size or half dollar size to store and organize my...
My little brushed motors collection is growing up, nothing special but recently I've made some additions and I'm considering to store them properly. What do you use for keeping your motors in order?

I am not a motor collector at all
Good thing! If you have that many by NOT collecting....
My original cat from the 90's I had as a teen is still in storage. Needs a good restore, but I don't really have the time at the moment. Hopefully soon though! :)
I actually do have the 4th wheel, just not in the pic. It was a great running buggy...

look at all those flathead screws! that would drive me insane.
It's been a big week for us, we moved back home to Ontario, Canada from Germany. Upon coming back we got most of our belongings out of storage, I had a couple of boxes that contained my old RC10 and parts that have probably been in boxes for 20...

Snapped some pictures outdoors with a less crappy lens.
Just sharing some pics of my old school leftovers that I found in storage. My ex5 radio which I knew I had but didn't realize I had the box, box also contained some misc decals. Some motors, I know the pink trinity is a nuclear assault and...

you might wanna keep those batterys for your shelfers. If not I'm sure when you reach b/s/t access you won't have any problems unloading them

Now that I have two RC10s, I need something to store them, my tools and parts. Anyone have any suggestions? I remember all the old pictures with neat boxes for tools and parts. Im thinking something along those lines, but with space for the car and...

Thanks for the ideas. I had a tote with a custom make plywood insert to make it two levels... But no more... I was looking for a replacement this evening. The more challenging thing seems to be a toolbox/parts box. I want to keep my RC tools...
