Motor Storage = Silver Eagle Coin Storage

Post by badattitude »

This is my first thread, I searched for another thread to expand on but I didn't see one on motor storage. Similar to a lot of you, I raced in the 80's as a teenager. I must have received most of my motors second hand from guys at the track. BITD everyone had single motor cases and the motors I bought used came in these nice plastic cases. Anyway, now that I can't stop buying motors on eBay I need a place to store them. I searched for the same motor cases I used BITD and I couldn't find them. I was also surprised none of the online hobby shops sell anything smaller than a suitcase for storing motors (what if I don't have 10 motors).

So I was excited today when I found that the motor cases I remember are actually coin tubes. You RC Veterans probably know that already, but I did think it was a good enough discovery to warrant my first post.

So the point is. If anyone is looking for a good motor storage idea; consider these. A Silver Eagle Coin tube, 41MM in diameter and perfect fit for a RC motor. Best part, only 76 cents each at the local coin and jewelry store. Also available online.

:D

Yup, coin tubes. They are nice for vintage stuff. Your pics are propably not loading because they are too big. Try scaleing them down by 50% and see what happens. -Jeff

Thanks, I always wondered where they came from. The guys that built my motors always had them.

I still have a US Mint green top Silver Eagle tube from when I was into collecting coins. I also found that one cent (penny) tubes are good to store Dremel sanding disks. I need to get some quarter size or half dollar size to store and organize my cutting wheels.
