Super Astute

Post by Synergy »

I know this is probably going to get a bit looked down on but it's one of my favourite none Associated cars. I have a mint box and instructions and they are getting a bit rear in un run condition.

Nice ride Ferretti! What year was that car released? I assume TTC means Tamiya Traction Control? Is that a slipper clutch or a Hydra drive type of setup?

It was first released in 1991, it's a slipper mated to a planetary gear diff, for some reason Jamie Booth thought this was the future.

I raced a Dynastorm for a season. I think it came after the Super Astute?
The Dynastorm, from what I can remember of it, looks very similar to this buggy.

The TTC, if I remember correctly was a cross between a slipper and a hydradrive. It was several plates of slippers that you smeared shock oil on?
Perhaps I have that wrong.

You might be right on the slipper design I bought this one built but I will check the instructions. Anyway here is a picture of my Dyna Storm to refresh your memory and yes this was after the Super Astute and the last of the Tamiya 2WD race spec cars.

I got it form a guy at TC called EVOMAN, whom I assumed built it and then sold it supposedly test run once indoors only, is that you then Tom :?: I don't think there are any scratched on it possibly some fibres or is it a reflection from the esc mount? Thanks for the kind comments, I've got a few nice Tamiyas but I'm posting no more of them, Badhoopty looks down on them
