Turbo Scorpion 'fun at the beach'
Ive had this Turbo Scorpion sitting in a box for ages. Today I installed a Quantum Competition 3 speedo, 19 turn Komodo Dragon motor, Spektrum receiver and a 5000 lipo and headed for my local beach. Lucky for me the beach was almost deserted and the tide was way out leaving a huge play ground for the Scorpion to tear up.
I must have had a smile from ear to ear running this thing up and down the beach and throwing rooster tails every where. This car is a real pleasure to drive on the wet and dry sand.
Once I got home the car was washed down with the garden house, dried off with the compressor then sprayed with INOX to prevent corrosion. Now i cant to do it all over again tomorrow.

Re: Turbo Scorpion 'fun at the beach'
Hopefuly James (vintage racer) will be heading down my way tomorrow and we can run both the Scorpion's. James has an SLR camera so I will see if he can bring it along for some neater action pics. Speaking of video, i'd love to fit one of those little cameras that Bugle runs in his B34 and run it on the beach. I think the footage would be good with the sand being so flat and smooth to drive on.

Re: Turbo Scorpion 'fun at the beach'
Went back to the beach today, this time taking my Scorpion Beetle along for the wife to drive. Tried being 'REAL' vintage and run the beetle with a Techniplus Acoms 29 am radio set only to remember the terrible radio interference we used to get back in the old race days- . In the end the beetle didn't get run a lot but the Turbo was run till the lipo cut off came in. What a hoot
CAN YOU MAKE OUT THE BUGGY IN THIS PIC?

Re: Turbo Scorpion 'fun at the beach'
That looks fun! All that beach and not a soul around. Our beaches in Washington are crowded with mopeds and cars - big ones. Not to mention the overcast and rain 9 months out of the year. I don't know who's idea it was to let vehicles on the beach here but it really ruins it for people who want to just relax and play.

So the cars actually pull up on the sand and park? Only place I've seen that was in Venezuela. People pull up with SUV's with the trunk facing the beach, and a ice chest in trunk.. and party LOL.RedScampi wrote:That looks fun! All that beach and not a soul around.
