Someone Had To Finish It (At Last)

Post by tizeye »

I bought this car off bearrickster (thanks :D ) and I want to set it up for vintage racing (meet coming up all invited) it's a cool project but it's missing a few parts. I'm about to put an order in with Tower for some bits,..mainly these:
MIP CVD kit
Rear Bearings
Turn Buckles
Tie rod Ends
I'm obviously going to need the slipper clutch as well so can someone tell me what I need..either stock or aftermarket is fine. I have a Hyper drive system I could put on but I think someone on here mentioned somewhere that they aren't very reliable. Anyway guys if you can see anything else that I might need from the pictures let me know OK?..

One thing that I've noticed is that the front shocks don't look right...maybe too long?...or is it just the springs are too long?...

I think it's kinda cool how this build was started in the USA and has been shipped all the way to New zealand and you guys can still see how it progresses..

Sweet build! I always loved the long front shocks look. As long as they don't bottom out before the chassis does, you should be fine; you can always limit the down travel.

Slipper clutch:

When they switched from the thrust bearing to the thrust bushing I think they switched to a bronze bushing inside the spur gear as well, instead of a ball bearing. I think this is the right one:

I picked it up off ebay, it sat in a box for quite a while, then me and Mr Dremel went to town...those pictures were minutes after I hacked it.

If you want to use those longer .89 front shocks (stocks are .71s)....

A guy on ebay sells a woven graphite version which is a bit taller to accommodate the .89's. I don't have a link on me handy but I'm sure someone on here can provide it. He also sells a matching rear world tower, battery brace, and trans brace.

I purchased my first set of the towers and loved them. I then purchased an additional set.

I like the way that looks, a very nice compliment of colors.

Put the rest of the tie rods on..steering still needs setting up..rear shocks need shifting...put a body on it that Bearrickster sent with the car..its now quite a collection of colors..red,white and blue of course..but also fluro yellow..and the blue tie rods..plus the bronze chassis red shock tower..black arms..etc..still needs some work but I like it..
