Re-Re Hot Trick Conversion Kits

Post by mrlexan »

Seems everything is being reproduced these days. I like it a lot, but a bit pricey.

Assuming all parts go together I'd expect 12mm hexes: there's aset of red anodised ones on the same page

honestly, i would much rather see a TMS kit reproduced, rather than a hot trick hotshot.. i was going to try and custom cut one but never found anyone willing to scan it for me or never seen a kit come up either.

its a peice of art, but a bit pricey. at that price i wouldnt even run the car, it would be a shelfer, at least with RCchannel's components they are worthy of running and price is right.

I have a complete original kit (unbuilt) from back in the day - with the original "special" box etc. It really is a nice bit of kit.

The re-re pricing is quite expensive to be honest (in my opinion).

This is one of the few conversions that Hot Trick did that actually really made a difference to the car it was bolted too, god knows the Hot Shot needed some help!

Really liking those wheels they are advertising as well.....hmmmmmm

Cheers

I don't think it is so pricy at all: look at the number of parts and consider it's all made piece by piece.
Hot trick was not cheap and had somewhat of a sales volume to spread the investments over.
These guys will have to do with a lot smaller volumes.

Good point Ed, I wonder if they spoke to the original designers/owners at all?

Once the jigs were set up though - it would be a pretty short task getting it all cut out and bent to shape. The longest process would be the anodising. The kits would probably be better than the original versions like mine - as technology with machining has improved somewhat.

All in all - if it floats your boat - then the price doesnt matter does it! ;) Look what we pay for some of our stuff!

Cheers

Dear folk,
We heard from you all! :D Thanks for your interesting about our porduct. Because there are too many people mail us to inquire the rims, so we decide to seperate it from the car kit. You can buy it from our eBay store right now instead of waiting till Dec. (just search 'lohas' on eBay) But even those, the rims is still in very limit qty....please forgive us if it sold out again. :(

We also understand the kit is pricy. If consider about the market size (20? 30?), you'll soon know no matter how much money we quote, it is still not a good business. :? Even those, we still do the project because we are also vintage R/C collectors. We really hope someone could reproduce more vintage RC kit ~ besides TAMIYA re-re kits.
Anyhow, we seperate the rims from the car kit now to make it affordable ~ we hope so.

We are pleased to learn your opinion continuly. Just give us your comment to let us have chance to keep improving. Thanks!

BR. Emerson

Holy Smokes Emerson - are you the Emerson in Asia (cant remember the country - Phiilipines or Honkers??) that I spoke and dealt with many years ago!!

Good on you for giving this a go mate - god knows it is a very small market, as I said above - if it floats someones boat they will but it !!

Lovin those wheels, any plans for the other Hot Trick stuff?

Cheers
