RC10 Worlds Resto

Post by Charlie don't surf »

I have had this car so long it has spider webs on it :? , thought it might be time to freshen it up a bit :D

I'm going to try to use this car to get my juices flowing toward building the early 6035 I have--I'm starting to develop a weird attachment to all the little parts in the bags :? so I need to open the bags and put them on something before I end up on one of those TV shows

Not if I can help it :P But it is a little weird, because you it takes a long time to aquire some parts-and when you do you're proud to have found them. Sometimes hunting is 90% of the fun

Looking good 8) I think the Worlds Car is my favourite RC10.... i'll have to post some pictures of my WC project, yours certainly appears to be in better shape than mine!

I know what you mean about the NIP parts & being reluctant to open them, there's just something about that big bundle of new parts... somehow the potential to build something nice, holds more of an attraction than the actual finished product - weird :!:

P.S; why do you have new shock towers, the ones already on your car look in good shape?

I have the same problem with every old NIP part I find. It is like when you open the bags the parts are no longer their :( . I usually end up saving the labels.

This looks like it is going to be a nice build. Make sure you post pick son the process. Very cool.

Finished car--I had to replace very little compared to what I had originally thought 8) NIP parts used were

front and rear arms
front and rear rims
aluminum hardware
front 30 deg castor blocks
front bulkhead
steering bellcranks
aluminum axels
turnbuckles and ball ends
foam "thingies" for the ball cups
nose plate
8015 front tires, 8086 rear tires
rear hub carriers
MrLex RCPS Turbo Mirage body
rear wing

Overall a one day resto that came out way sharper than I thought it would, I originally got this car from ebay (with another one) for a donor chassis since one of mine had the rear of the chassis removed--thought I might just part out the rest. Really glad it turned into this instead

Rear end completed at 10pm

Front end completed at 12am (damn turnbuckles and new ball cups)

All other components installed 12:30am

New tires and rims finished at 1:15am (had to dig through the parts bin 3 times to find the aluminum hardware for the front rims :?

Trim and mount a new body and wing. Set camber and front toe, place on shelf at 2:30am--then fall asleep, quickly!

I cannot lie, it is growing by one more on Monay  I don't know why I have such a fondness for these cars. It is currently at 5 including one without the correct chassis that has a "worlds graphite" chassis until I find another one (and build the graphite car how it should be)

Not just 10t hub carriers my friend, but 0 deg hub carriers. As I understand and have seen it it goes like this-

Worlds car released like this, then same as this but with different box and manual and the older stlye rear hubcarriers but this time the carriers are black and black spur, all black plastic and box with Kinwald/Drescher a gold foil sticker on the box and for the first time the "b2 stlye" shock collars
and bottoms.
