Who says dogs aren't like kids?

Post by mrlexan »

So..... one of my dogs is sick. Why, cause he eats everything he sees, especially other animal waste (to use kind words). That "stuff" seems to be his snack of choice. There is plenty to go around with all the freekin geese around the lake and the other IRRESPONSIBLE dog owners that don't pick up their dogs' waste.

So, again, why am I posting this/what is the moral of this story? If you are afraid the dog is going to releave himself on the carpet and you decide to lock him up on the tile floor section of the kitchen cause you don't want to clean up a mess?....... DON'T..... Why?

Picture what happens after a dog takes a dip in the pool or the lake, gets out and does the shaking thing to get all the excess water off him. NOW, lets add a dog with waste in place of that water and he is not outside, but placed in your kitchen. YEP, it can happen and did. :x

If I could only describe in a few words what I came home to today. Let's just say it took me three hours to clean it all up and we don't have a big kitchen. I have pics to show proof to the wife so that she didn't think I was stretching the truth in exchange for some sorrow. Not sure I'll post them. Might be in appropriate....... Either way, I thought I would share the story of my afternoon.

We've got a Pomeranian and an Akita that both love to snack on the chicken poop around the yard (we've got 5 hens ... ). The Pom likes to go raid the cat box too. I don't get it either. Damn kids!

I could go into more detail if you all prefer and post the pics... then it will be too much info.

Some more enjoyment for Al. I went through two bottles of Simple Green, one bottle of Lysol, and 3 rolls of paper towels. I had to through out two towels and one dog toy, they weren't worth cleaning up.

Later yesterday evening, after my wife took him to the vet, she came home and bleached the floor (letting it sit for an hour), then mopped it with some other cleaner. She also gave him a bath, as he still stunk....... this is after I hosed him off (the first thing I did when I got home). Getting him (he's 65 lbs) over the baby get from the kitchen to the outside door was an adventure on it's own. Once outstide I actually made him jump in the lake first (he chases rocks) and then hosed him off after throwing a couple rocks in the water.

pictures are NOT!!!! necessary, I think I might dry heave. I used to have a Great Dane, she was a trash compactor. And great dane's are huge dogs, so you can imagine the piles I had to pick up. I lived in an apartment... not a good idea.

Sorry for your incident, my daughter had a blue crayon experiment with a wall yesterday...

Halgar, if I get into the hobby of cleaning up another mess like this, I will definitely call you. I'll be more than happy to pass the hobby onto you.

My dog likes to eat my girls' underwear and socks. If she wasn't better behaved than my kids she would have been gone long ago.
