Kyosho optima wheel/axle adaptor size

Post by Dr. Robotnik »

Hi guys and girls,

I am trying to adapt a set of Kyosho Optima wheels to fit an RC10 and was wondering if I could get some help with Kyoshos as I am not familiar with them.

On the back of a Kyosho Optima wheel is a recess for a hex nut to attach it to the axle and allow the power to be transferred.

-What size is this hex nut?
-Was an adaptor ever made to fit Kyosho Optima wheels to an RC10? Hot Trick maybe?
-Where can I get an adaptor or a Kyosho original nut to adapt?

Thanks in advance for all your help. :D

Cheers

Ed

Look for a set of HPI universal wheels adapters. I think the hex size is sort of standardized like touring cars use.

If they are standard 12mm, this will work (with a little modifying).

I think I have a few extras with a wider offset.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the help so far

I am not sure what is standardized and what is not. Are both these suggestions for the same thing? Whats the diffrences between a TC3 and an RC10? :?

I only know the RC10 and the Tamiya SRB cars well so cannot say what is standard in touring cars or Kyosho.

Will either or both of the above options work? :?

Please explain these to me as if I did not know anything :D

I cannot order from TH myself but scr8p has agreed to put an order in for me and I'd like to order the adpators then if at all possible.

Cheers

Ed

It looks like speeds idea would be best. They are designed for the old rc10. I think the tc3 axles are smaller and the adapters would require drilling and maybe some slot manipulation to accommodate the pins.

Dr, you have pm.

Hi Dr, you can use the plastic 6mm wheel hex but you need to drill a 7mm hole 3mm in through the side where the pin sets in. Only then will the hex hub sit on the pin and fit the RC 10 axles.
