RC10 Universal Joints
Which kits came with universals or CVD's? I have the two pictured here and was wanting to put them on a period correct car. I have one of my CE's (I believe it is the later version) and was wondering if one would be correct on it. Sorry for the multi question.

Re: RC10 Universal Joints
Associated has all the manuals on their website. I believe the Team Car had universals, the CE had dogbones, and I can't tell if the World's Car had CVDs or universals. I am looking for that RC Car Action article now.

Re: RC10 Universal Joints
Great Idea. I have all those PDF's saved. Don't know why I did not think of it. Some times it is hard to tell in those though. If you don't have all the part #s the pictures can look different. Such as black shock caps in the instructions where as the kit came with gold etc.SteveK wrote:Associated has all the manuals on their website. Re: RC10 Universal Joints
Thanks. So when you say it like that, I take it that no CE's actually came with them in the kit. They were just out around the same time.scr8p wrote:the 6371's would be more "period correct" for your ce.

Re: RC10 Universal Joints
ya, all of the c.e.'s came with dogbone/stub axles. the first car the universals were used in would be the 6 gear graphite. the later tq10's came with them (when the 6 gear graphite came out), and the team cars...... tub or graphite. the worlds car had cvd's. but the ones you have are actually for the b2 (3/16 axle).

Re: RC10 Universal Joints
Yeah, I've been reading over them the last few days, seeing what is still available, and the manuals can be a hodge-podge of parts. The RC10GT manual has black parts, white parts, new, old, etc.
There were two Championship Edition cars; the 1990 version was the original RC10 with a few newer parts on it (long arms up front, new wheels and tires, etc), but it had the old shocks and 6-gear transmission. The 1992 version had the new style shocks and Stealth transmission. The bushings and dogbones were the only appreciable differences between it and the Team Car. The chassis wasn't black, and the shocks weren't hard-anodized, but they were otherwise identical.
The World's manual says universals, and doesn't mention MIP, so I guess there it is.

Re: RC10 Universal Joints
there's also a "mid" c.e. it had the 6 gear trans, but the new style shocks (black plastic shock caps), and the tub was already drilled for the stealth.

Re: RC10 Universal Joints
Head is now spinning. By new shocks you mean the gold top loaders before the team hard anodized?

Re: RC10 Universal Joints
In your behalf scr8p, the manual that I have is not very clear and doesn't show the universals being installed. I just could'nt understand why AE would go back to dog bones (older technology) so I put the universals in anyway. The manual on the AE manuals cd has 6371 penciled in pointing to the rear universal.scr8p wrote:oops............ ya. they're universals too.
