Dodge Challenger

Post by scr8p »

i don't remember where that unofficial challenger thread is, so i figured i'd start a new one.

the guy that we build alot of cars for, one of his employees traded in his r/t challenger on an srt8. he also picked up one of the optional t/a hoods for it. he dropped it off in january, but since he doesn't drive it in the snow (and i didn't have the time to paint it then anyway), i finally got it painted today. it's the original organosol textured flat black paint like was used on the mopars back in the day, but instead of it being lacquer, i used urethane.

unlike the old cars, the hoods on the new challengers don't go all the way to the front of the car. because of that, i had to spray the top of the bumper too so it looks like it does. i'll get it back together tomorrow. i think it'll look pretty good. he also ordered a t/a stripe kit for the sides of the car, too. those aren't here yet though.

i don't remeber where my dad got it, but he's had it for quite awhile. it's a lifesize earnhardt sr. busch series/busch beer cardboard standup from 93-94 (i think).

well, here it is. i got it back together this morning.

All she needs is a confederate flag on the roof (and an orange hood ) and she'll be good to go!

For the most part, I think the auto manufacturers have done a decent job of merging the old with the new in their retro styling. Unfortunately, Chevy's Camaro looks a bit too much like the Charger, but for those that can recollect the 60's, the new Crammitroo isn't too bad (my fave is the '65 Roo ). Dodge's rendition of the charger is awesome!

On a similar note, the PT Cruiser is a pretty decent looking rig, for what it is and unfortunately GM's attempt is a poor copy of the PT Cruiser - whatever they're calling that thing ...

Are you trying to be difficult? :? :?

You're right, '67. I had two buds with Roo's back in college. One had the '67, the other had a '70 or 71 - whichever had the weird headlights and grill.

You're succeeding!

The only car dates I can sorta quote are for the Corvette. I liked the late 60's and early 70's models and hated the mid 70's. My dream car was the 78 - 82 body style. My goal was to buy that vintage and then build it to be the best it could be.

Now that I'm older and wiser ... I still want my Vette! LOL

My favorite year for the Corvette was 1983.
