DAMN! Brushless+Lipo+Radio Signal Loss=Destruction (UPDATE)

Post by burnsmonkey »

Well finally had the weekend to play with it, and yes nothing compares to Lipo so much more power. Just forgot to respect the power, in the front yard hauling @$$ and then I try to pull a 180 and just goes 90 instead radio loses signal and goes full throttle to a neighbors 2 foot brick wall. Man im so pissed, i was ready to race my uncles nitro too! DAMN!

First the ball cup snaps.

Second the nose tubes bend.
Image

Third my damn a-arm breaks, right here I knew I should have threw some cheap a-arms on.
Image

Then finally, im not sure I might have bent my nose plate.

Go Spektrum. You can drive the car to the point you can't see it anymore.

Spread Spektrum 2.4 radio rules! I wont use anything else. If you lose range the car just stops.

2.4 all the way here now as well. I can't even get to the end of the yard anymore with am/fm. I have a dx3s and like it alot. I use it with the regularly played with cars. I just got through modding an old futaba 3pm with a corona 2.4 hack module and it works like a champ as too. It has 10 model memory. I am running the corona stuff in 4 cars with no problems so far. You can convert any old am/fm radio to 2.4. It's $30 for the module and 1 rx, additional rx's are $20.

Minus one for 2.4, PCM still rules, and they are dirt cheap--and I still walk up and turn on, without asking

Never made it to the track, was going today now I have to hurry up and get my other truck ready. After further inspection, nose tubes are bent at a 45 degree angle, front right arm is just destroyed, luckily because I only had the short screw holding the nose plate it was spared except for the tip which is slightly bent, easy fix. Just sux I have to get a vintage arm and dye it to match and everyone knows thats easy to do.

Watching some Spektrums on the bay today and seeing if I can win one for cheap. I figure if i can get one for $100 its well worth it to learn on a cheap one first. But I did have a question, if I get a Spektrum radio all I have to do is buy tx for my cars and all my cars will work with my 1 spektrum radio?

yes. you will have to reset trim as you change cars but thats an easy fix. Just gotta bind each rx to your tx.

+1. Well, sort of. I do think 2.4 is good stuff, but PCM is still very good too. I have switched to 2.4 on my cars, but I still fly PCM. And yeah, if you go PCM now you can get a sweet radio for a lot cheaper then 2.4. The best thing about 2.4 is not having crystals, but if you don't race a whole lot that doesn't even matter.

Depends on what model you get. If you want to run several cars off one radio it would be best to have a radio with model memory for as many cars as you have. Of coarse that means getting a more expensive system because the cheaper ones don't have any model memory. If you get one with no model memory, you would have to re-bind the tx/rx, and reset all your settings for that model every time you switched to a different car, so it would basically be the same as having a crystal radio.

I went Futaba 2.4 fast system I love it and hate it. it works great and the radio has so many options its way over my head. I hate it because I didnt research it before I bought it, and the spaire rx are 75-90 bucks each. but not haveing to worry about chan. anymore is Great.

I've never heard anything bad about this one: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXWPW0&P=7
and extra receivers are only $18
