Proposed: R/C Spring Garage Sale Weekend
So I have some down-time this afternoon and I started re-organizing what I have left of my vintage collection and other random R/C pieces. I have just about a half of a 15-gallon storage case full of new and light use RC parts and pieces. Most of it isn't something you would post a new thread for, and the ridiculous single-seller threads here that get new things added to them all the time are impossible to keep track of, and not very buyer-friendly.
So here's what I'm proposing for RC10talk.com users who would like to participate: a sort of internet city-wide garage sale weekend. The object of group sales is that if everyone is selling at the same single time, more potential buyers will be more likely to come out for a large one-off event than they would if there were random sales here and there. More viewers, more potential to unload your stuff that you don't need.
Let's say before May 1st, we all go through our random parts and pieces of stuff that has collected and is now taking up space and other resources, and post them all in ONE weekend sale thread. I think we can find a bit of time in the next two weeks to itemize everything and price it for a garage sale that everyone can benefit from. Sell stuff, buy stuff, but it's a great reason to finally force yourself to go through that bin of "eBay crap" you have been piling on for years and never got around to doing anything about.
At the very least, use it as motivation to get off of your butt and clean up the shop top see what you have piling up (that you forgot about).
Anyone interested, or is this just a hair-brained idea?

I know I'm a n00b here, but I love the idea. However, I would be a buyer, and don't have the post count as of yet to buy. Hopefully by then I will be good to go....

Why a month? Go through your crap and get it ready to list!fastang wrote:Great idea but I would wait a month or so and really get the details sorted out!

May 1st, boys and girls... ONE THREAD, massive sale. Be there.
Re: Proposed: R/C Spring Garage Sale Weekend
I love the idea! Will it work something like my pay it forward post where everyone just puts their stuff in one post with a price and then the first person who wants it gets it? How are you going to determine that, ie: will pm's be involved for who gets the item or will it be in the post for everyone to see. You all know how I feel about that
I just suggested a month to get some $$$ back in PP
Your proposed date is fine. I have some stuff I will defenatly put up for sale. Im interested to see how it turns out!

Re: Proposed: R/C Spring Garage Sale Weekend
The way I see it is ONE single Flea Market post for anyone who wants to participate. All deals and discussion should be left off of that thread and taken to PM, IM or e-mail as to not clutter up the thread. I will be taking the time to photograph everything of mine that needs it and setting up an off-forum gallery for any items that need photos as to keep the thread streamlined. I have a LOT of random things like RC10 kit wrenches, Proline tires, Losi spur gears and odds & ends that I'd rather not put into one big lot to sell at one time, as they are things people would probably need but not want to spend $75 to get a big collection of stuff they don't need.
In theory, it should be a great place to find those little odds-n-end you need to complete a build or get rid of the stuff filling up boxes and drawers in your shop. I have already started itemizing my stuff, and making a rough list of things I am looking for, too. My plan is to have everything typed up and ready to paste in when the thread begins that Friday night (April 30th).
Should be pretty productive for anyone who participates.
And maybe I could talk the Admins into lifting the B/S/T restrictions for the whole weekend so that we can promote it to other sites like RCtech, TamiyaClub, etc... and make this REALLY work.

Perhaps a temporary "store" could be created in the business section and participants could create a unique thread for their stuff?Eau Rouge wrote:And maybe I could talk the Admins into lifting the B/S/T restrictions for the whole weekend so that we can promote it to other sites like RCtech, TamiyaClub, etc... and make this REALLY work.

Will this be a one day deal and then the thread is locked or will it go on for a day or two?

Would have to complete it to sell it..... besides, if I wanted to sell something useless, I'd sell my Kyoshos and Tamiyas....arf wrote:Just sell one item. Something completely useless, like... the Daytona.Incredible_Serious wrote:I'll never get that organised in only two weeks!!!!!![]()

Schit, I just drained my PP again. Must sell something fast!
On a serious note, Does it start on Sat and what time? How long will the sale last, just the weekend?
