Castle Sidewinder SV1 Garage Sale!
I just found this link on a crawler forum and wanted to pass it on to you guys.
http://www.castlecreations.com/promos/sidewinder-clearance.html
I just ordered one for myself and one for a friend since I need a new ESC. And I ordered a CastleLink from A-Main since I have some reward points to use up.
It works with brushed and brushless, so it will be perfect for my runners. They also have combo packages with a motor for $99.99.

just an fyi searching ebay BIN lowest price I found NY suppliers selling the SV2 with 5700 for around $110 shipped. That's $40 less than my big box lhs.

Damn, that's cheap! Are these comparable to say the nicer HW units?

Re: Castle Sidewinder SV1 Garage Sale!
Just another FYI. I ordered the sidewinder 4600kv combo for $99 for a project car thinking it was an older CM36 motor which I already have with a ton of trouble free miles on it so I was fine with it. When I opened it up it had the new 4-pole 1406 motor with it. Castle has this motor alone for $125 and other sources for over $100. So I got a great deal on the motor alone plus a free speed control. I am going to get a few more while they have this deal.

Re: Castle Sidewinder SV1 Garage Sale!
Thanks for posting this. I just bought the 4600 combo and a spare esc.
Heck of a deal, even though I paid close to $20 for shipping. Keep em coming!! I bought the B4 the same way, and at $100 it is worth it!

Re: Castle Sidewinder SV1 Garage Sale!
I received my esc Thursday and put it in my runner RC10 with an Orion 18T brushless and it's super smooth, so I'm happy.
I'm waiting on my CastleLink to do some fine tuning with the drag brake and such.
For any of you guys using the Sidewinder with a brushed motor, you first need to re-program it since the default setting is for brushless.

Re: Castle Sidewinder SV1 Garage Sale!
Regarding the castlelink, the software is a free download from Castle correct?
I will just need the hardware I am assuming. Is this the one you bought? http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/cPath/2_389_416/products_id/10269/n/Castle-Creations-Castle-Link-USB-Programmer-Adapter

Yes, the software is totally free from Castle's website and takes a few minutes to download. In fact, I just installed it on my computer today running XP because I got my CastleLink yesterday. It also comes with a data logging graph viewer installed, but I haven't tried it with either of my ESC's to see if or how it works.
That link from A-Main is the exact one I ordered. One end plugs in to the ESC's receiver plug and the other end uses a mini-USB to connect to your computer. I adjusted the drag brake and some other settings on my Holmes Hobbies BR-XL and it made a huge improvement in my crawler.

Re: Castle Sidewinder SV1 Garage Sale!
Thats what I thought, thanks Dave. Now to get something newer to run this stuff in.
I did buy a B4 from the sale about a year ago on the AE website, the buggy for $100. It is still sitting in the box, unopened.
So I might use that, or of I can come up with an RC10T, I would rather build a truck. Thanks again.

Re: Castle Sidewinder SV1 Garage Sale!
Mine showed up on friday, very quick trip they took from Kansas City to Calgary.
Now to get the link cable and something to run it in, From what I hear Castle brushless combos are decent.
I am looking forward to getting one installed and ran.

Re: Castle Sidewinder SV1 Garage Sale!
Thank you for posting this. I scooped one up when I got paid last week. My leopard esc was acting funny although it turned out to be a loose wire in the plug on the reciever I think I am still going to swap it out.

Re: Castle Sidewinder SV1 Garage Sale!
Ordered the 4600kV combo. My first foray into brushless(buggy). It says it shipped today, and I'm pretty stoked!!!! Now I have to select the victim to install this in.
