I don't think the test results relate to RC diff balls as they were comparing Chromium Oxide versus Tungsten Carbide.

I am setting out to build the highest end RC10 Stealth Transmission available.

This will be entirely aluminum with the case, gears, spur gear all aluminum and ceramic balls and bearings. Vented V2 slipper pads.

The issue with aluminum cases is that the Dhawk is the only one available. Better ones from golden years, Rogue Elements, and Walt’s are not available anymore and the only way to get one is if you get lucky.

I have to admit i have not raced ball diffs in onroad for quite a while now, as my main class is EP TC and thank god we have gear diffs now and cars that are designed around them ;)...

I’d like to rebuild my ball dIff. I am pretty sure the RC 10 came with 1/8 inch balls. Is there a modern replacement for these? I have a new set of rings. Thanks in advance.

I want to say it's 8 for 6 gear, and a dozen for stealth. 6 gear could have more if you used a kimbrough gear or one that has a ton of holes. but the original gear was 8 holes.

On my re re Im running a Dynamite Tazer 4000 kv motor.....
After my first two runs (on a beach parking lot) I noticed my car not wanting to move. I noticed the diff balls had melted into the spur gear. I was told I probably had the diff too loose....

Tightened up very tight will give you pretty much a locked up spool action. If the differential spun in the event that you nailed the throttle on a tight turn, you would get some limited diff action and probably generate heat. You are far better...

I have an 870c that I'm rebuilding and I can't figure out what size diff balls I should use. I bought a package of 3mm, but those seem too small :?

Looking to build my SC10FT kits and I want to convert to hexes right away, is there a kit that has everything I need or do I need to piece together from associated part numbers? Also do you guys have a recommendation for diff balls? Stock, kit ones...

The front wheel bearings will work fine as long as there in good shape. The wheel nuts would be the same front to rear so if you have some spare rears you can just use those. Aluminum hexes are not absolutely necessary, but they are more secure. If...

I was reading the AE manual for thr Worlds RC10 & it makes a point of stating that only the Associated 3/32 carbide diff balls should be used & if replaced with a new set they should even be all from the same batch!

I just wondered how critical is...

well of course their gonna say.... only use the associated diff balls. :wink:

it doesn't matter what brand they are, just replace all of them.

Anyone here have any experience with the high dollar Acer ceramic ball bearings? I was in the market for a few high end bearings and these look real nice. They're advertised as being sealed.

I tried the Acer ceramics and was a bit skeptical at first. The difference between them and normal cheap bearings quite surprised me, to the point where I'd try them again.

If your just bashing I wouldn't bother with them, but for racing I'd say...
