I’d like to rebuild my ball dIff. I am pretty sure the RC 10 came with 1/8 inch balls. Is there a modern replacement for these? I have a new set of rings. Thanks in advance.
I want to say it's 8 for 6 gear, and a dozen for stealth. 6 gear could have more if you used a kimbrough gear or one that has a ton of holes. but the original gear was 8 holes.

Yeah, I counted 8 on one of my 6 gear cars but don’t want to open the trans on my stealth just to count the balls. Lol

After my first two runs (on a beach parking lot) I noticed my car not wanting to move. I noticed the diff balls had melted into the spur gear. I was told I probably had the diff too loose....

Tightened up very tight will give you pretty much a locked up spool action. If the differential spun in the event that you nailed the throttle on a tight turn, you would get some limited diff action and probably generate heat. You are far better...
I was reading the AE manual for thr Worlds RC10 & it makes a point of stating that only the Associated 3/32 carbide diff balls should be used & if replaced with a new set they should even be all from the same batch!
I just wondered how critical is...

well of course their gonna say.... only use the associated diff balls. :wink:
it doesn't matter what brand they are, just replace all of them.

The front wheel bearings will work fine as long as there in good shape. The wheel nuts would be the same front to rear so if you have some spare rears you can just use those. Aluminum hexes are not absolutely necessary, but they are more secure. If...
i got 3/32 dif balls for the diff gear in the original stealth tranny is that right?they seem to fit small and the diff rings when i tighten dont seem to be touching them just the gear itself.
