I won myself a kyosho raider on ebay today for the low low price of $30. (around $45 with shipping)
It looks to be in pretty great shape. Comes with the lemans motor and MSC (I think) The body is a little rough, and missing the wing, but I am sure I can find a repro raider body out there somewhere.
I should have it in a week or 2.
i bought a raider just for the rims n gold shocks it was in A1 condition , i took it all apart and its sitting in a bag somewhere if you wanna but it for cheap it also came with an alright shell.
Congrats Tim. I saw that on the 'bay too. I started my RC experience with a Raider. I don't know why, but a lot of people cut on the Raider. IMO it WAY outclasses other cars of its same category...like the Hornet and GH. It had 4 wheel independent suspension!!....I'm also glad to see you got quick offers for parts support. That's nice to know because ONE DAY, I should put one on my shelf, just since that's where it all started.

For sure, 4 wheel independant was a definate advantage. Throw some golds on there, and it probably would have done quite well on the track.
Right? What's up with those? I can't find another picture of a Raider (or any other car) with those type of tires. Anyone know if those are stock tires, or if they are aftermarket?
I had a raider for my first car as well. I raced the hell out of the car. At the end of its life I had bearings with a Slot Machine motor in it. The car was fast and gave me a solid foundation of driving skill when I moved to a JRXT.
I have thought about buying a Raider to build for the memories alone.
The Raider was my first hobby grade RC car too. I had a Tyco Turbo Hopper 1st. I have great memories of both of them.
My first race grade car was the Ultima Pro XL which I have on e-bay now. I want to get into short course since there is no where around me to race vintage buggies.
