AYK Super Trail

Post by SFC K »

So I picked this up at a Swap meet a few weeks back. Pretty cool RC and rare. Chassis rails are broken but looking to see if I can find used ones. I sent an e-mail to InetRc to see if they can help me out. So far I have not heard back from them. I started taking it apart last night and looks like I could have the rails remade. They look like 1/4" square bar stock. Will have to get exact measurements tonight. Some of the screws are stripped out and will have to be replaced.

I also had a question on how to get the wheels off? There is a set screw on the insides of the ball cup but that did not help. Do these actually bolt on like a 1:1 car? There are four nut's on each tire bolting up to what looks like a hub.

Any help with this would be great. Thanks Guy's!

For looks this is one of my absolute favourite offroaders.
Pitty about the rails but it should be easy enough to make a shelf worthy fix.

Now this has got to be the most helpful info yet! Thanks a million! I have been looking for info on this and not a whole lot out there.

I will see if I can talk to a local metal shop and see if they can bend too new frame rails. Chances of find replacments is going to be hard. I post some pictures of all the pieces in a bit.

I thought they looked similar to my Assault too. Problem was they are too thick and the bends are not right. Going to ACE tomorrow to find some square bar stock. My Dad thinks he might be able to bend them for me at work. I just wish I had the measurements for a piece that was not broke or missing the middle section of itself.

Here some pictures of the much needed tear down. Check out the motor and ESC; it looks old and I found some internet site that said it should be in a museum. The tires have BF Goodrich on them. All the gears are metal, but there are bushings throughout.
