Shelf queen stand set-up's?

Post by THE H.P FREAK »

HI!... I've got plenty of RC10's that will be finished soon and will be shelf queens. Just wondering what everybody is using for little display stands to show off their RC10's or other RC cars? I know some guys use set-up work stands, some use stands from wood, old car pistons.. etc...

Post up some pics of your stand/display set-ups, or links to display stands for out RC vehicles.

Thanks :

Neal.

I really don't have any glorified shelf queens yet. But here's what I was planning. I was going to go to Lowes or Home Depot and get some plexiglass sheets. Something with a little thickness to them. Then I was going to cut them down. We'll just say something like 4"x12". Then I was going to heat up and create two bends. When said and done, it will basically be like a C'channel. It'll be clear so that way you focus on the vehicle, not the stand.

I like the Jconcepts car stands. You can paint them to match and they are not all that expensive.

i heard of people using spray paint caps..like you mentioned pistons..
what i was wanting to do when i get the oppotunity..is to go to a store that is closing their doors and buy their display case with a light and a lock..

I use the spools from stitchers (hi volume staplers) from the printshop I work at. They're just a 6" around spool but I make a paper placard to cover the spool (where the wire used to be). I'll try to take a picture tomorrow

I'm thinking some PVC couplers for something like schedule 40(?) 4" PVC pipe would be cheap and neat.

on my offrosd cars I found some plexglass stands on Ebay from Track Side RC products. but my onroad cars I just went to walmart to the craft section and got some sticky back foam pads like the battey pads. and covered 1x2 wood scrap peices cut to the car lengh. they look good and work great. the cost was under 10bucks for over a dosen. you could do the same process with 2x4's for off road cars. just enough to keep the tires off the ground.

Ok in the craft section of Walmart they have a 4 inch thick pack of every color in the rainbow of sticky back foam. I cut the board rapped it around three sides, and cut it off with a hobby knife. then stick a peice on the ends and their you have it. I was just working on my new building bench(also in the picks) and had some scrap looked at the foam and just built it. I put the foam on so it wouldnt scrach my chassis. but then I liked how it looked so I built a few. if you make them smaller you could do the hole block in one peice.
