Got me a GRASSHOPPER!
HI!... Well I had a Tamiya Grasshopper when I was 12 (1985). So I decided to get one of the re-releases. So today I picked up my brand new Grasshopper. Here's a few pics.

Re: Got me a GRASSHOPPER!
Very nice. I have a Re-re myself (stock with ball-bearings), I let my 4yo nephew bash it around, and it's fun for me too!
My advice: leave the 380 motor in there, it's surprisingly torquey (pretty low top speed), but, it will run all-day-long with a 2200mAh LiPo - motor doesn't really get hot either... Have Fun!

Re: Got me a GRASSHOPPER!
dsmith, how did your parents like you digging up the backyard for a track?
I know I got in HUGE trouble - I guess it didn't occur to me that the dirt area in our back yard was some kind of "garden" - The deck made a perfect raised driver stand, with a rail & everything. I was the envy of my rc buddies while it lasted (our nearest track was waay to far to ride a bike to, and none of us could drive).
I wonder how many people here did that!
(sorry for the digression/hijack - just brought back great memories )

Re: Got me a GRASSHOPPER!
The grasshopper was my first car. One of the most produced rc cars. Put a sport tuned in it . Trash the plastic bushings and pick up some bearings from avid rc. Alot of fun for the price and parts are easy to find.

HI!... Well this one already has full AVID ball bearings (sealed) in it. It's currently got the stock 380 motor in it. It's a shelf queen. If it ever gets run it will get one of the many new 540 Technigold motors I have and a lipo.
