Post by bigmd »

my buddy gave this to me last night.I did give him a bottle of Captain Morgan for it.Anyway probably hasnt been used in almost 20 years. Its pretty complete but i will update and upgrade.couple of questions.
i am going to install the wide front arms what size turnbuckle do i need?
is there a complete screw kit for the car?
are there better shock caps for the shocks?
can the shock towers be dyed?
any other info would be greatly appreciated

All that car needs is a good tear down and cleaning!
You already have long arms and please dont dye anything.
Nice original car, lets see a shot of the bottom.

Hope that was at least a 1.75L bottle of Captain

I agree! Clean like you never cleaned before and if you dont like the towers, get a set of carbon fiber ones from Atlas.

Sweet deal. Even have the novak electronics too. I agree with restoring it but the good thing if your gonna run it, use the black parts. Then you'll have the factory white parts to fall back on to shelf. That's what I plan to do.

HI!... Great deal! I say clean it up and restore it. You can whiten all the white plastic parts by doing the H/P-UV light mod. Mine looked like that when I 1st got it. Now it looks like this :

HI!... Just use some Allen keys and use a small socket set if you have one. I usually use 1/4 inch drive sockets with the hand wrench.

great car ! sweet it came with vintage novak speed control and receiver ! that should clean up wonderfully. i have a lot of cars with the wide front arms, but none with the white parts. like everyone is saying, try to find some black parts to run with, and keep the whites for later if u decide to shelf it :) otherwise, might be kicking yourself later :D

well, unless someone already modified it for competition use, it will be really inefficient. BITD people used to take small files and smooth out the burs on the gears, so it will glide smooth. they did make bearing kits for it, if you plan on using it i would try to find bearings. extended use with bushings will probably wear your parts if they arent already worn down. you could keep an eye out for a 6 gear that already has bearings, alot of the old school racers built their trans up, then when the stealth came out the old 6 gear was shelved, so there are quite a few out there in good shape, just need to find them. ( sorry i have no clue what bearings to order :? )

Here's a thread on the bearings needed for the tranny:

that should get you started.
