Reedy 3300kv, 13.5 or 17.5 equivalent???

Post by curly »

The Reedy 3300kv motor that comes with the RTR RC10B4, is this the equivalent of a 13.5 or 17.5 motor?

Hope this helps. I have a 4900 that I haven't yet used... I'm guessing that it is something like a 8.5, but don't know for sure. I may actually try and trade it for a 3900.

Gotta love new tech. I remember when I stopped running RC in the early 90's it was hard to get enough power. Now many of us are getting lower wind/kv motors to keep under control. I originally got a 6900kv Castle combo for my T4. Holy cow. Now I use a 5700kv for larger tracks and a 4900kv for smaller. The 4900kv really hits my sweet spot for all around use.

so would you guys says the 3900kV motor would be a solid 13.5 equivalent or slightly quicker?

I'm going to pick up the reedy brushless combo, but was looking at the 3900kV motor rather than the rtr 3300kV, I want the car to be quick, but not out-of-control-burn-up-parts stupid.....

IMO the 3900 would not be too hot. What were you going to be using it in?

2wd offroad, 4wd offroad, and either a Yr4 touring car or a DS. pretty much my all round bashing/cruising system....with so many cars, and lots of old school stuff, and not nearly enough for every one of them, I was going to transfer the system as neccessary depending on my mood and which car I want to drive. I want something decently middle of the road, more or less like my old 13 and 14 turn mod motors, but with a little more run time.

I think the 3900 would be a good starter. My son has a 3300 in his T4 and it is good but it could use a little more for my taste.
