Removing glue from aluminum wheels
Removing glue from aluminum wheels
I know it's hard to believe anyone would do it but I have a nice set of aluminum wheels that have been glued to the tires. I'd like to save the tires if I can and I know acetone will melt the glue. My question is if the acetone will harm the aluminum? Does anyone have experience with this?

acetone should not hard the wheels unless they have some type of clear coating applied.
acetone is usually used as a pre-cleaner for tig welding aluminum.

CA glued to the wheels? If so, try putting them in the freezer for a few hours. Depending on the quality and age of the glue, it could make it brittle and the tires might be easily removed. Worth a shot, it's not going to hurt anything. Well, except hopefully the glue.

Re: Removing glue from aluminum wheels
Have you tried CA debonder. I have never tried it on aluminum but it is safe for your fingers. Works great on all the stuff I have tried it on.

Hadn't thought about the freezer, thanks Melvin I will give it a go. It seems like CA but there's so much of it.
I read online somewhere that CA debonder is usually made from mostly acetone.
