Reedy 17t motor brushes?

A few weeks ago, I ordered a new reedy 17t motor for my rc10. When the motor arrived, I looked it over and the only funny thing that I noticed about it was that the wires that lead to the brushes is very small compared to that of the the wire on my 1980's motors. These wires are a bunch of hair thin wires loosely braided together into a small rope. On my older motors, the gauge of the wire is bigger, but they are also twisted into tightly packed braids. Also, there is not one, but two of these braids attached to each brush. So my question here is this: judging between the sizes of the wire braids on the older and the newer motor, would it be a good idea to replace the brushes with something bigger? Doesn't the smaller wire braid limit the amount of current going through it, and build up heat? I just bought it, and I don't really want to burn it up.

Is that a Radon motor? If it is then it's basically just a stock motor but with a 17 turn armature in it instead of a 27 turn. It still uses bushings and has a fixed endbell like a stock motor. It's faster than a stock motor but nothing like a true 17 turn modified. I wouldn't worry too much about the brushes until they wear out.

I got mine new from a store on eBay, and it came with blown capacitors.

On mild motors like that one, the shunt doesn't make a difference. The contact surface between brush holder and the brush does, though

The motor just blew out last night. For some reason, whenever the motor is in the car, I have NO control over the car at all. It literally drives itself. I tried three different sets of radio crystals and a 2.4ghz radio, but I still had no control. I swappe out the speed control, servo and radio and still no change. So now that the motor stopped working, should I buy another one or should I go with the duratrax or ezrun brushless systems?

stop messing with brushed motors for bashing. Ezrun is the way to go

I've thought about throwing an EZ Run system in my RC10 but I've got concerns about cogging. I've only driven one EZ Run system and it was in an RC10T4 at the track. That thing cogged through slow corners like crazy. It was very annoying. Brushed motors just don't do that.

Ezrun also have a new line of sensored esc's amd motors. They are really affordable, maybe $65. for sensored motor and esc. My son tried a new 10.5 sensored and he says it flys! For $30. how can you get more bang for your buck? Sensored esc's do not cog. However when I ran my sensorless ezrun, cogging only happened when starting from a dead stop and only for a very short although noticeable time. That was a year ago. Now you have boosted and turbo software available for your sensored ezrun online. You can have your cake and eat it too!

The EZ Run are the sensorless. The XE Run are the sensored. I have an XE Run in my mid motor XXX. I'm thinking about the EZ Run for my RC10 and perhaps other cars. I'm not really concerned about slight cogging starting from a dead stop. My concern is will it cog from part throttle through slower corners?
