Earthquake

Post by transamman908 »

My wife and I are on vacation this week and was in Atlantic City N.J inside Tropicana casino when everything started to shake for about 20 sec. from the 5.8 earthquake that happened in Virginia. It felt very odd. People started to panic as lights and objects were swinging on the ceiling along with the moving floor. This is a rare event for the east coast. Anyone else on the east coast feel like they were sitting on a bowl of jello?

My brother's friend who lives about 4 miles from here in Juneau, PA, felt it at about 2 p.m. and it put a crack in the wall of her newly-built house.

About 80 miles from me (Front Royal, VA) Lets just say we can take that off my bucket list, I have lived between DC and Norther VA my entire life, that was the first quake i have felt, from what i have been told we have had a couple minor quakes in the last 36 year but i dont remember.

It was a weird feeling, It was kinda spooky at first but after seeing everything was ok and nobody was hurt it was kinda exciting.

I didn't feel anything in Manhattan, but my co-worker did. They evacuated some of tall buildings in NYC.

yep, felt really weird today, outside Philly, northeastern area, ie, Willow Grove if that means anything...

sitting at my desk in the office, it kinda felt/sounded like someone was moving some equipment either in the adjacent lab, or the one upstairs, then the desk sort moved around, then it happened again even stonger, felt very much like being in a car with a very strong side wind, just kinda jiggly.

weird! glad it seems like there was minimal to no damage anywhere.
